History Background
During 18th-19th centuries, The Industrial Revolution changed material production, wealth, labor patterns and population distribution. Although many rural areas remained farming communities during this time, the lives of people in cities changed drastically. The new industrial labor opportunities caused a population shift from the countryside to the cities. The new factory work led to a need for a strict system of factory discipline.
The Great Britain Impact
- Social - By 1850, over 50% of the entire population of the Great Britain lived in either a town or a city. People have more opportunities to work in industrial and economic goal. However, Children were forced to work in these factories and would sometimes lose a limb from the work. Even if they had lost a limb they would be expected to work.
- Economic - The wealthy fared far better than the industrial workers because they could afford to live in the suburbs on the outskirts of the city. However, for most of the factory workers, cities were dirty, crowded places where epidemics frequently broke out.
- Political - There was no law to force industrial businesses, they are independence. Also had child labors issues.
World impact
- Social - Manufacturing sector all across the world. So in urban areas were increased population because people could see job opportunities such as labors.
- Economic - improvements contributed to the advancement of shipping and trade and to the expansion of the economy. European became wealthy during the Industrial Revolution.
- Political - The government did have to eventually intervene in order to put an end to child labor and other unacceptable practices.England also took control of India and Hong Kong during this period of expansion.
The Modern Day Counterpart
- People have more optional goods and supplies.
- People still use machines to produce more products
- People still migrate to find jobs in urban area.
- There're pollution issues as same as during the Industrial Revolution.
- Some countries are limited for marketing.
