What to Expect
- Please Do Not use this day to conference with the teachers. We want the day to mimic a normal day as much as possible.
- We ask that parents participate in the class activities and refrain from socializing with each other about outside topics when the teachers are teaching.
- I would recommend pretending like you are one of the students. Follow the rules of the class. It may sound crazy but I actually did it last year and blogged about it. Check out how my day went below! :)
- Have fun and enjoy the day.
Parking for Friday
Below is a link to the blog I wrote last year when I became a 4th grader for the day!
Survey/ Note from TEA
Nov 10th 2016 6:24pm
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently launched an online survey offering parents, taxpayers and the general public an avenue to provide input on the state’s implementation of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). ESSA, which is the new federal law governing K-12 education and replaces the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, returns a significant amount of decision-making on education policy to the states.
Commissioner of Education Mike Morath has stated, “We need input from all parts of our state to ensure that, under ESSA, all students in Texas can receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the future.” The online ESSA survey, which will take less than ten minutes to complete, is available at the following link:
http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3003630/ESSA-Public-Input-Survey.
The online survey provides an opportunity for arts advocates to share views on how the state should implement provisions of ESSA. In particular, question 3 provides an opportunity to share the importance of the arts as a part of the measure of school quality or school success. The survey period will run through Nov. 18, 2016. I encourage you to complete the survey and share with fellow educators as well as parents of your students.
REMINDERS AND IMPORTANT INFO
- Reminder about having your car tag for student pick up. If you do not have a tag, you will need to park and go into the office to pick up student with proper ID.
- We are asking that all visitors are out of the building by 7:50. We will make announcement at 7:45 to remind everyone of the time. We are asking parents not to walk their students past the double doors after the tardy bell. If you are staying to volunteer, we ask that you check in at the office. We are doing this to ensure teachers can start classes promptly and get the school day started.
- We are regularly talking with our students about expectations during the pledge. We ask for your help in this matter. If you are a visitor in the building, when the pledges begin, please stop and join us. This will help to model respect for our country to our students.
- The school doors will open daily at 7:15.
- If you need to pick your child up early from school, please get them by 2:45. This will ensure you do not get stuck in the parking lot.
- If you need to buckle your child in the pick-up line, please pull into one of the designated parking spots so we can keep the line moving.
