Glenealy School Newsletter

Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
The children came back into school, bubbly and excited about their holidays and keen to see their friends and teachers again. Many parents also had a smile on their faces, returning the children back to us for the next term! What a great term we have ahead! The Year 4 children can’t wait for their first overnight camp tomorrow!
GS Community taking Action
The are many examples of how our community is fulfilling the school's mission of ‘flourishing’ and ‘making a positive difference’. You were all very generous in donating money to the Ben Kende Foundation to support spinal research. Thank you! Another example over the holidays was Amina Numayama of 3K (take a look in the Hall of Fame section in the Glenealy Globe) cutting off her long hair and donating it to a charity who supports sick people who sadly lose their hair through their illness. Very thoughtful and caring Amina!
The Y6 students are committed and passionate about their exhibition projects too which they are working on at the moment. They are taking action both in school, locally and globally to make a difference to issues connected to the UN Global Goals! It really is inspiring to see the level of interest and commitment! Thanks for your support, encouragement and modelling in this area as we know many of you are also doing amazing things to help others.
Council of International Schools (CIS) evaluation
Next week I will be co-chairing an evaluation team for a school in Japan. This school goes through a similar process of self review as we do with CIS and IB, and the visiting team (which comprises of a number of international leaders and educators) will help to work with them to move the school forward. This aside, it is an important experience professionally for me to see the workings and programmes of another school and to consistently reflect upon what we do here at Glenealy and how we can continue to improve. During my absence Dave Buckley will be acting Principal and Phil Sangster VP and Jennine Harding acting VP. Please contact them if need be.
Congratulations to Ms Ede
Abi and her partner Dilan are very proud to announce the arrival of their beautiful little girl Evelyn. Everyone is well and they are all settling in as a new family. We are all hoping to get a cuddle soon!
