News and Information
Dragons' Love Tacos Day- September 7.
On Friday, September 7 we will be celebrating the writing trait WORD CHOICE with a Taco Fiesta based on the book Dragon's Love Tacos. Our entire day will be centered around tacos- we will have taco themed reading lessons, math lessons and science lessons before our Taco Fiesta before special class time!
If you volunteered to provide something for our fiesta I have sent you a confirmation today of what to bring. If you volunteered and I had all the spots filled, you should've gotten a note saying that as well. Thank you for you generosity- I was blessed with lots of volunteers!
Refocuses
I started using the refocus procedure this week. Just a reminder they will receive 1 verbal warning to change their behavior. If the behavior continues they will be asked to refocus--- move to a quiet spot in the room, fill out the green refocus sheet, and wait (while listening to the lesson) for me to check their paper. Please sign the refocus and return it with your child the next day.
If you’d like to sit with your child at lunch we’d love to have you. Lunch begins at 11:47 a.m. If you wish to eat the school lunch, please call the office to order a tray.
Homework
Your child's nightly homework: Read 20 minutes every night!
Your child will not have homework this year unless:
1. They are absent and make up work for the day will be sent home.
2. They are falling behind on Rocket Math facts, at which time I will send a letter to inform you there will be homework until they catch up and/ or meet the expected level.

English and Writing
In writing we are talking about what good writers do. We've made anchor charts of what to do if you're having trouble during writing time. We used a simple rubric to show us what 1,2,3 and 4 writing looks like at this point in the year. We rated our own writing with a friend. We also discussed ways and phrases that could be helpful or hurtful when we peer edit or use the rubric to rate someone else's writing.
