CES Counselor's Virtual Open House
Mrs. Perry & Mrs. Thompson
School Begins August 12!
Dear Parents:
We know the beginning of this school year is a little bit different then what we are all used to. However please rest assure that our staff and teachers are doing everything it takes to make this #newnormal be the best school year yet! As your School Counselors we understand that your child and even your family may be experiencing MANY different forms of feelings and emotions during this challenging time. We want you to know that we understand these feelings, and no matter what you may be going through, IT'S OKAY to have the emotions that you have. We are here to help you and your child navigate through this time as best as we can as we believe we can all get through this by communicating and working together.
In regards to counseling and guidance lessons this year, we will be educating your child in three different areas; academic, personal/social, and career. In a school environment we are not only looking to help students academically, we are also educating them in their social emotional skills. As their counselors, we understand that there are several avenues of a child that can affect all areas of their educational achievement. It is our mission to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and you as parents to make sure that we are addressing all areas of your students educational development and providing the best opportunity for them to succeed.
During our first nine weeks, students will get to have at least one live virtual session in addition to at least 2 recorded counseling lessons each month. Individual counseling will be available upon request on an as needed bases. Should you feel your child may need individual counseling, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our contact information is provided below in addition to our school's website and Schoology (access code: CJBB-P8PP-XH6MK).
It's going to be a GREAT year, and we look forward to getting through this all TOGETHER!!
All the best,
Mrs. Perry & Mrs. Thompson

Hello! This is my second year being a School Counselor in Madison city schools teaching at both Columbia and Heritage Elementary, and overall this is my fifth year as a School Counselor. I have a huge passion for Social/Emotional Learning (SEL), and it is a big part of what I love doing throughout our school community! I hold a Bachelors degree in Psychology, a Masters in Education, and starting this fall I will be working towards my Doctorate in Social Psychology. In my 5 years of counseling I have worked 2 years overseas in Singapore and have also counseled both in Georgia and Alabama. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband of over 15 years, and our three wonderful children: our son Hayden who will be a Junior at James Clemens, and our two daughters Kayla a freshman at James Clemens, and Audrey a fourth grader at Heritage Elementary. I live a colorFULL life, and I believe that everyone should be loved and valued and I strive to treat others in this respect each and everyday!
