Social Studies
APWH: This week we focused on the Document Based Question portion of the AP World History Exam. The goal was to become familiar with the scoring rubric the AP Exam readers will use to score the DBQ, the individual components of the DBQ, and time management in answering the prompt. Students completed a writing outline in order to organize their responses and then completed a DBQ from our most recent period of study. Students then used the scoring rubric to self grade and then traded papers and peer graded their responses. We finished by brainstorming our strengths and weaknesses in APWH to date. We will begin Period 6 with Chapter 25 presentations on Monday/Tuesday.
AH-1: We completed Unit VI: “Events leading to the Civil War”. Students tested on Thursday & had Friday to complete any Unit VI work. All Unit VI work was due at the end of the period on Friday.
We will spend the next 3 weeks studying the Civil War, then 2 weeks on Reconstruction, & 1 week of review for the AH-1 exam.
Civics and Econ Honors: This week we will continue our examination of economics with a focus on types of economic systems, interdependence, and factors of production. Hopefully, the students will gain an appreciation of our mixed market system!
Final exam resources have been posted on Teams. Please encourage your students to study a little bit each night, rather than cramming at the end of the course. The North Carolina Final Exam is worth 25% of their grade!
