She is very active in the Career and Technical Student Organization for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. She is currently the FCCA secretary and has attended FCCLA Camp to help perfect her leadership and teambuilding skills. She is always positive and wants to help other students in class. She is truly an asset to our class and the culinary arts program here at Vista Grande High School.” Gabriela’s Parents are Mr. & Mrs. Luis Angulo of Arizona City, Arizona. Faguini Kanojia [CGUHS] December
(CGUHS) Faguini Kanojia was recognized Tuesday, December 5, as the December Rotary Student of the Month at the district’s Governing Board meeting. Faguini is a part of NTHS, NHS, Link Crew, Student Council, HOSA, Cultures & Languages Club, Fashion Design Club, and Key Club. She volunteers at Banner Hospital every Sunday and works at ROSS. Last year, Faguini won CAVIT Medical Science Student of the Year. According to Ms. Belinda Long, RMA, CAVIT Medical Assisting Instructor, “Faguini Kanojia is one of the hardest working students in all of my classes combined. She is driven, polite, and engaged. She is very competitive, but also inclusive and enjoys being part of the leadership in our classroom. I have had the pleasure of working with Faguini as part of our HOSA Officer team. She has traveled to Tucson in competitions and Washington D.C. for a Leadership Conference and has always exhibited exemplary behavior and engagement. She has aspirations of being accepted to Georgetown University, which I support due to her dedication and drive. When we talk about community service, or ways to bring HOSA to others, she wants to take it to India where she is from. That says a lot about this young lady. She wants others to benefit from the same opportunities that she has and include them. She is amazing and is well deserving of this recognition. Thank you for allowing me to say a few things because I really admire Faguini and appreciate the opportunity to work alongside her.” According to Mrs. Norma Machelor, Link Crew Advisor, “Faguini is a Link Crew Commissioner Officer, for which I am one of the coordinators. Link Crew’s main goal is to recruit seniors and juniors to become Link Crew leaders and help freshmen in their transition to high school with multiple events throughout the year. Her commitment to this school program shows her dedication and her compassion to her younger classmates. She is a hard-working young woman who cares a great deal about others and motivates other leaders to follow her steps. She works diligently with her fellow officers, and her contributions to the discussion are always positive and encouraging.” After graduation, Faguini plans to attend a four-year university on a Pre-Med pathway while working as a Medical Assistant and then attend medical school.

Biology: Chlorophyll Project
(CGUHS) As Mrs. Cedillo’s Biology class began to analyze their background knowledge of photosynthesis, students drew leaves and used spinach leaves to extract the chlorophyll pigment inside of the chloroplast to color the leaves green. It was great visual evidence to support their claim that chloroplast reflects green light. Thus, plants appear green.
Biology: Concentration Gradients
(CGUHS) In Mrs. Cedillo's Biology class, students built ramps to symbolize the concentration gradient seen in active and passive transport. They tested the "concentration gradients" to ensure they were able to stand and used tokens to demonstrate the ideas of active and passive transport.
Biology: Osmotic Pressure
(CGUHS) Ms. Patun-og’s Biology class conducted an egg lab experiment to prove that the selective permeable membrane of an egg demonstrates the process of diffusion and osmosis. In the selectively permeable membrane of an egg, the theory of the process of osmosis and diffusion is proven if the egg is placed in a solution with higher concentration of sucrose (sugar) rather than a lower concentration, the egg will decrease in weight. The students observed and recorded data of the weight of the egg from day 1 to day 2 and the volume of distilled water, vegetable oil, and corn syrup. After soaking eggs in vinegar for more than 24 hours, three (3) eggs were placed separately in a 250 ml of each liquid: Beaker 1 (egg with distilled water), Beaker 2 (egg with oil), and Beaker 3 (egg with corn syrup).

FAFSA® Form
Each year, the U.S. Department of Education rewards over $120 billion in federal grants, loans, and work-study funds to more than 13 million students. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the only way to apply for federal, state, and college aid. It is completely free and it typically takes ONLY 30 minutes to complete. Many schools offer money on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the sooner one applies, the better. For more information, visit your high school's webpage (CGUHS or VGHS).

Scholarship Opportunities
It is a known fact college is expensive and the cost is rising. Do not let that deter you from applying for college. There are many opportunities to help you cover the cost of college. Scholarships are gifts of "free money" that do not need to be paid back, unlike student loans. Most scholarships can be awarded based on merit, which means that students earn them for having good grades, athletic talent, volunteering, or even for a certain demographic. Every year, hundreds of billions of dollars are awarded in scholarship money. There are many sources of scholarship, such as colleges and universities, military, individuals, communities, nonprofits, ethnic/historical organizations, businesses, religious groups, and more. Some scholarships are highly selective but many are not. The best practice is to apply for as many scholarships as possible and start early.
