Arctic Light K-8
September 30-Oct 4th, 2019
Hi,
Student Ownership and Reflection: It's time for both students and teachers to reflect upon current data and set goals for the year. Soon we'll be done with the first quarter and then Parent/ Teacher Conferences are just around the corner. Use the next few weeks to reflect upon your data and set goals for your class.
Students benefit from clear learning goals and expectations. Provide lessons that show students their current progress and clarify their expected learning targets. When they know their area of need the next step is taking ownership of their learning. Be clear with students that this is the expectation and it will be discussed during Parent/ Teacher Conferences.
The district is making steps towards competency based education. While this is being clarified the gist is students pass tests to pass a course. Do you have ideas for grade level learning targets? This is a piece of our Personalized Learning initiative.
Be well,
Thad
