Did you know you can flip through The Post-Standard (digitally) so you can keep up with the latest news? Are you looking to do some research and want to include diverse perspectives from credible, vetted news sources from around the world?


Check Out NewsBank!


Through NewsBank you can access thousands of newspaper titles, as well as newswires, web editions, blogs, videos, broadcast transcripts, business journals, periodicals, government documents and other publications from around the world, and can easily explore tens of millions of current and archived news articles. If you are accessing NewsBank (or any of the library databases) when not using the school Internet you will need a password that your librarian can provide.


Tech Tip: Finding that Perfect Book in Sora!

1. Log into Sora (www.scsd.us >> Library >> Clever >> Sora)

2. Click on the Explore button

3. Use the search button at the top of the page to search for something specific

4. Or you can scroll down to see clickable categories under Popular Subjects

5. Click Explore All Subjects to see a full list or keep scrolling down to see other categories

6. You can also click on Preferences to identify your specific preferences and formats

7. And you can click on Collections to browse different categories

8. Once you spot a book that looks interesting, click on it

9. On the left you can see some information about the book

10. In the middle section of the page, you can read the summary

11. On the right, sometimes you can click on Sample to read a few pages

12. If you scroll down, it will list other titles similar to that one to check out

13. If you like the book, click Borrow- it will be on your Shelf for 2 weeks

14. If it’s not available right now, you may click “Place Hold”

15. Enjoy! And when you’re ready you can click Return. Or click Renew if you need more time!
