Pine Hill Families
Friday, October 23
Happy Friday!
Families: We are all doing our very best to keep everyone in the Pine Hill area safe and healthy. We know you got a lot of emails and messages at the beginning of the year and it was a lot of information so we will send out periodic reviews to remind you and update you on any changes to our COVID protocols.
Our mask wearing and social distancing needs to be at Pine Hill and outside of Pine Hill. We need to think about that in all our interactions. It is something that we can do all the time to keep our germs to ourselves.
- If you have been notified by the school, the Minnesota Health Department, or a contact, that you or your students need to quarantine, that means stay home unless it is absolutely necessary to go out.
- Continue to call the attendance line if your child has any symptoms of illness and leave us detailed messages. Our nurses may call you back for more information or just to answer your questions. We know that the isolation and quarantine times are hard to understand.
- We think our Pine Hill Family is doing a great job keeping our hands clean! We hope that is a habit that they continue with you at home, too.
- Jolaine Mast
Building Principal

Scholastic Book Fair
We will have a virtual book fair this year. Please use the following link to order your books this year. All profits go directly to our Pine Hill Media Center to purchase books for student check-out. Thanks for supporting our school!
Wanted: Stretchy gloves and hats
Want to have a way to help Pine Hill students this year? We are in need of stretchy gloves (the cheaper the better) and neutral color stocking hats.
Sharing is not caring this year so we when a student needs something for recess we will not be getting it back, so we are looking for quantity not quality for this. These need to be unused, straight from the store. Send them in to the main office.
If you want to donate quality items to a family who needs winter gear, check out Sowashco Cares: https://www.facebook.com/SoWashCoCARES/. This goes directly to our students so they are ready for the cold.
PICTURE DAY!
Please do not send your child in green. It is a green screen and will not show up well. Thanks so much!
If your child is out of school due to quarantine or sick, please wait for the picture retake days to help keep everyone safe. Picture retake will be December 9th and 10th.
VLA families: You can come during these open times on either November 11th or 12th.
7:45- 8:30am
1:00- 1:40pm
- Park in the bus lot horseshoe in a green parking spot and come to side door (we will have a sign to help). It is the doors that 1st and 2nd enter in the morning.
- Everyone must be wearing a mask, even when you are outdoors.
- Wait at the door- there will be a staff to greet you. The child will enter, hand sanitize, go to the classroom right by that door, take the picture, and come back out. Adults will not enter with the child.
Deadline is this Sunday to change your Enrollment for Trimester 2
Registration Opens for K-12 Families Changing Learning Models for Trimester Two
South Washington County Schools has opened its online registration for families who wish to change learning models for trimester two. The trimester runs from Nov. 30 to March 5. The learning models available for trimester two include:
District learning model
Currently hybrid, but the model could change to in-person learning or distance learning due to COVID-19 infection rates and other factors
Virtual Learning Academy (distance learning)
The registration form is only for families who want to change learning models for trimester two. Please carefully review the steps below before registering.
DEADLINE - 11:59 p.m. | Sunday, Oct. 25
Who is the registration for?
Families changing from the district learning model (hybrid) to the Virtual Learning Academy
Families changing from the Virtual Learning Academy to the district learning model (hybrid)
What if I change to the district learning model?
Your child will attend their assigned school in the district learning model.
SoWashCo is currently in the hybrid learning model.
The learning model could change based on lower or higher COVID-19 infection rates and other factors related to staffing, illness and classroom space.
District learning models could include in-person learning for all students, distance learning at home or hybrid learning (a combination of both)
Please note:
Secondary (6-12) courses and teacher assignments are not guaranteed. If secondary students change to the district learning model from the Virtual Learning Academy, schedules may change in order to accommodate classroom capacity.
What if I change to the virtual learning academy?
Your child will be engaged in distance learning throughout trimester two, even if the district shifts to another learning model.
Your child will still be enrolled in their assigned school.
Please note:
Elementary (K-5) students may be taught by teachers from across the district, rather than only their child’s assigned school.
Can I change learning models after the deadline?
No. Completing the form is a commitment to that learning model for all of trimester two. The deadline will not be extended.
What if I do nothing?
Your child’s current learning model will stay the same for trimester two.
If you need to make a change in learning models, click the link below.
