MMS Weekly Update

April 26, 2015

PLCs next week

Science and Social Studies PLCs will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Coverage is as follows: Hensler and E. Buda covering Stevens; Kosinski covering M. Buda; Rinaman and Bustle covering Mehall; Ketchie and A. Miler covering Roseman.

Digital Conversion Visit on TUESDAY

This is our final official visit of this school year. Please plan learning tasks that showcase our students and their hard work! The visitors will be here from approximately 8:15 - 11:45 in the morning.

Special Events this week

Chick-Fil-A night is on Monday from 5-8pm with proceeds going toward our special education playground. Our Chorus will be performing the National Anthem on Tuesday evening at the Kannapolis Intimidators' game. It should be an awesome evening, so we hope to see great community support for this special performance.

Online Safety Seminar

May 11th, 7pm, MMS Gym

PLEASE share this information with parents via your team emails, newsletters, etc. This is a GREAT learning opportunity for students to learn about online safety and cyber bullying from a relevant expert. Special Agent Jon Letterhos will be a feature speaker, and he wants to help educate all parents on what the online world is REALLY like for teenagers.

MMS Staff Celebrations, Care, and Concerns

We should continue to keep the Tucker family in our thoughts as they take the next steps forward in their grieving process. Payton spoke at her father's funeral on Friday, and I heard she was great! Lauren, as one of our volunteer coaches, needs extra prayers, too. Cory Gudger's father had a blood clot develop in the lower chambers of his heart about a week ago, has been sent to the hospital, but is now home. They could use a few extra prayers as the get him back to good health.

On positive notes... Cindy McKenzie is having her 2nd grandchild in November! Madison Ketchie made MHS JV Cheerleading and Competition Team! Laura Miller's mother turned 102 on April 12 (WOW). Laura Smith's daughter is now a PhD in music! They will be heading to Wales to see her graduate this summer.

Heart for Hiley 5k

Thank you to all those who were able to volunteer their time on Saturday. It was an awesome turnout for the wild weather we had, and we are so appreciative to the community sponsors as well. This event would not have occurred without all of the help! And we know many had a blast in the process! Thank you to Erin Buda for her idea! Thank you to Angela Ketchie for her awesome pictures! And many other thank yous!
