Additionally, students are reviewing their practice standardized test results in preparation for the April standardized tests.
English
Science
Biology- students are wrapping up their unit on Ecology and will be moving on to body systems. They will have the opportunity to get some hands-on experience looking at the heart! We will then be spending some time on endangered species and conservation as we head into our big end of the year project. Chemistry: Is still hard at work, trying to figure out what happened to their victim at our crime scene. Using chemistry and forensic science to process our crime scene, they will solve the case this month.
History & More
World History- students are now venturing into the Russian Revolution. We are lucky enough to have had a Russian guest speaker, SSAE's own Vladislav Izboinikov, speak to his perspective of growing up in Russia. Next, students will dive into how World War II affected the world.
Teen Leadership- this is a semester class where students will get to know one another better, build relationships, and give speeches.
Academic Fitness- students will take their academic fitness into their own hands by refining their academic learning skills while balancing their school course load. We will be attending a field trip to PPCC to introduce students to Career Start and Concurrent Enrollment opportunities.
Art
College Adobe Photoshop- Introduction to Adobe Photoshop & Layers
Digital Illustration- Introduction to Digital Art & Digital Hatching/Cross-Hatching/Stippling
Jewelry Design- Introduction to Design Elements & Key Chains, Belts
Spanish
The world language students have given their best and have deepened their knowledge about how verbs work in their target language of study. This is a huge component for creating a strong foundation in their acquisition of the language. To reinforce this, at this time and until the end of our semester. We will be concentrating on improving oral communication skills. Students will have a field trip to a Mexican restaurant. This experience will help them communicate in the language they study and allow them to gain confidence in the use of this language in an authentic way.

Project Based Learning Experience- Spring 2020
SSAE High School Team is excited to announce our Project Based Learning Experience for Spring 2020! This year our focus for the high school students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade is a Zoo Exhibit Design Project, which will be incorporating science, technology, engineering, math, English, and history subjects. The project will kick off right before Spring Break and go through the end of the school year. The finale will be Tuesday, May 12, 2020, and it will entail the students presenting their final design proposals to an audience of conservation groups, zookeepers, and people who frequent the zoo. Students will report to school just like usual to work on this group project. The inbuilding daily schedule will reflect the regular schedule as well as incorporate the PBL schedule. This is not additional inbuilding work, but replacing that work with this amazing cross-curricular opportunity. Students will receive in building grades just like usual through various steps they will be taking to complete this project. The high school will even take a field trip to the zoo as well as reach out to community resources for research. Please mark your calendars for this important and fun project as parents and the community are invited to attend the finale on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. More information will be coming.
