THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
7TH GRADE HAPPENINGS
Seventh Grade has had a very busy year so far! At first, we were just figuring out junior high… lockers, multiple teachers and assignments, and different classes. We continued exploring our faith with campus ministry and are now deepening our understanding of Advent. We were fortunate enough to be given two classes for peace pals: fourth grade and KB; and we spent time with our peace pals getting to know them and having some fun, too! We are looking forward to our first overnight class trip in April and we already have our “shopping list” for supplies to take to camp! ~Ms. Gafner

These are the Days
This year has asked a lot of us. I know this because I listen to children for a living. When I enter their classrooms, the one thing I ask them is if they know what a “counselor” does. I get the usual answers.
You help people with their problems.
You tell people what to do. (hmmmm not so much)
You solve problems. (This one usually makes me chuckle – inside of course)
You protect kids.
You give squishies to us! (Never knew what a squishy was until I came to St. Viator – ha!)
But the response I love the most is when your children tell me that I listen. I LOVE to listen. And I love that your students know that I listen to them. With that said, I repeat, I know this year has asked a lot of us. The holidays continue to ask even more of us, right? One way to respond to the MORE part of all of this is to stay present. We hear this a lot in the news, on social media, and in most any self-help book we read. I think we hear it so much that we become desensitized to the concept. But when I hear it, I remember Jesus reminding us that all we’re really responsible for is TODAY. How do we focus on today with the holidays in front of us? How do we keep from worrying about getting everything accomplished? How do we avoid worrying about making sure our kids have all the fun we think they need in the next few weeks?
“Joy has its roots in wholehearted appreciative attention.”
Stay. Present. This is where we find joy. This is where we find happiness. This is where we avoid stress. If we forget to be present, we lose out on the fun, and the memories, and the moments. You know the moments when your kids are all asleep under one roof, when your kids are sipping hot chocolate, when the dogs jump all over you and you group hug, when the house is quiet and messy and filled with holiday things. Those are the moments. So come back to your breath, quiet your mind, take it all in for a moment. These are the days.
Blessings,
Monica

Viator Parish Tuition Rate Reminder
The most significant criteria to qualify for the Viator Parish rate is regular attendance at Sunday Mass using your envelopes.
In order to qualify for the Viator rate you MUST:
- Attend a minimum of 26 masses (Saturday or Sunday)
- Use the envelopes sent to you from the church
- Families may write “Attendance” on envelopes instead of submitting a monetary donation in the envelope
- ALL envelopes MUST be placed in the collection baskets on Saturday or Sunday Masses only.
- Forgot your envelope? Remember your parish number and use a blank envelope provided at mass
DO NOT
- Mail in your envelopes to St. Viator church. These will not be counted.
- Place envelopes in the wall collection box. These will not be counted.
- Place envelopes on the countertop of the church. These will not be counted.
- Drop off your envelope in the church on a school mass day. These will not be counted.
- Drop off multiple envelopes at once.
- Forget the envelope and tell the church or school you went.
Tuition review will happen in December and you should have at least 13 masses by this time. All rates will be reviewed and possibly adjusted after the assessment. If your rate is adjusted it will be reflected on the January statement. Please DO NOT call or email the school office or church office to ask if changes are being made until after the receipt of your statement.
Remember, parents are a model of faith for their children and when families join us on a regular basis they are showing their children the priority faith and church has in their lives.
