Welcome to Week 8!

This was a great week of celebrating bus drivers for National Bus Safety Week! Thank you to our PTSA for donating gift cards to honor our team! Our bus arrival and dismissal has greatly improved and we are so thankful for our drivers! Next week, our students can participate in a spirit week in honor of Bullying Prevention. Let's join our school counseling team in saying BOO to bullying and show some creative school spirit!

We are offering parent teacher conferences on November 4. Our teachers will be available in person during the hours of 12:30 to 3:30 and virtually during the hours of 4:00-7:30. Please check your email for an invitation to confer with our teachers.

Have a great week 8!

~Mrs. Broudy, Principal

Community Event-October 25

Wolverine Weekend Kits

The Wilder community is so fortunate to have two partners this year who want to assist our students with weekend snacks and meals. Thanks to Anointed New Life Baptist Church and St. Andrews UMC, beginning in November, we will be able to offer Wolverine Weekend Kits! These kits will be available on a limited basis and are dependent upon community donations. For more information and to request a Wolverine Weekend Kit when they are available, please read and complete this brief form: http://tiny.cc/wmsweekendkit

Guardians must approve that their scholar is allowed to receive a Weekend Kit prior to receiving one. If you’d like to assist with filling our Community Closet with donations to help make these kits available, check out our Amazon wish list for shopping ideas: http://tiny.cc/wmswishlist

For questions, more information, or if you need additional assistance, contact Mrs. Clarke at: cvtclarke@henrico.k12.va.us or (804) 335-7088-call or text.

Henrico Christmas Mother

Christmas Mother Donations

Wilder will be participating in collecting donations for the Henrico County Christmas Mother program. More information about the Henrico Christmas Mother can be found here: http://www.henricochristmasmother.org

The Henrico Christmas Mother is most in need of the following items:

-Non-perishable food items

-Hats & gloves (Youth and adult sizes)

-Tube socks for children and teens

If you would like to donate any of these items, you can have your student drop them off in the library or contact Family Advocate, Carolyn Clarke at: cvtclarke@henrico.k12.va.us

All donations must be received by November 12th.

Change to Reflections Due Date

Are you working on a Reflections entry that shows us how you can change the world? Well now you have more time! Due to changes to the Reflections program at the Henrico County level, the deadline is now November 17th, not October 22nd. How you submit your entries is changing, too, and we'll be sending out details for that process in the next week. For more information on the Reflections program, click here.

Weekly COVID Cases 10/11-10/15

As you know, Henrico County Public Schools and Wilder Middle School are doing everything reasonably possible to keep you informed about health concerns that are connected to our school. Over the past week, Wilder has recorded 2 positive COVID-19 cases and 15 associated exposures (close contacts). All close contacts have been previously notified by building administration.

It is important that students attend school each day and arrive on time to ensure they are receiving all of their instruction. Please see below for important information regarding attendance.

· School starts at 8:05 each day. Students are considered tardy if they arrive at 8:30 or later.

· Notify the school by calling the front office at (804) 515-1100 if your child will be absent from school. If we are not notified of an absence, your child will be marked absent unexcused automatically.

· Our attendance team regularly monitors student attendance. Families of students with five or more unexcused absences will be required to meet to develop a support plan for attendance.

· If there is anything we can do to support your efforts in making sure your child is at school every day, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or our Family Advocate, Mrs. Clarke!

Screening Tests for Winter Athletics

Athletics is an important part of the development of our students, and we want to provide a safe environment for competition as the weather cools. That’s why HCPS will soon begin weekly screening tests of athletes and coaches, to identify asymptomatic COVID-19 cases early and stop transmission. Testing is expected to begin November 8 at the high school level and November 15 at the middle school level. Students participating in winter athletics must submit one student and parent/guardian consent form (electronically or paper copy) to their coach or athletic director for weekly participation in screening testing throughout the season. (Forms will be available through your coach, our school’s athletic director, on the HCPS website or soon through the vendor’s website.) Student-athletes can opt out of weekly screening tests if they are fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination to our school athletic director.
