Literary Devices
One of the literary devices in Macbeth is tragedy. Towards the end of Macbeth, Macduff had received news that his family had been killed by Macbeth’s murderers. That makes him really upset, because know he has no family to come home to. “ Murderer: What, you egg? (stabbing him.) Young fry of treachery! Son: He has killed me, mother. Run away, I pray you! (Dies) “ (Act IV, Scene II)
Another literary device in Macbeth is Dynamic Character. Lady Macbeth changes during the story. At the beginning of the book, she was sane and she wanted power so she convinced Macbeth to kill Duncan. But towards the end of the book, Lady Macbeth starts to lose it and she went crazy and she started sleep walking. ¨A sleepwalking Lady Macbeth is observed by a concerned attendant, or gentlewoman, and a doctor. Lady Macbeth appears to be washing imagined blood from her hands" (Act V, Scene IV). She is continually trying to wash the blood off of her hands for she feels quilty for Duncan´s death. She went insane because of it.
Another literary device is Imagery. "The rebels and English forces have met in BIrnam Wood Malcolm orders each soldiers to cut tree branches to camouflage himself. In this way Birnam Wood will march upon Dunsinane" (Act V Scene IV). I can clearly picture in my mind them cutting down the branches and using them as camouflage. That puts a clear image in my mind.
