From the desk of Principal Papes

Dear Alto Families,

There was great energy and enthusiasm in the school this week with our Homecoming Spirit Week! I am continually impressed with our students’ character, enthusiasm and work ethic. We believe that positive reinforcement is extremely important in recognizing the efforts of our students and encouraging appropriate and prosocial behaviors. We are intentional about providing this positive praise in a variety of ways. Please reiterate with your children how much our staff cares about them, how appreciative we are of their outstanding effort, and that we love spending our days with them. Thank you for all that you do to prepare your students for success at school!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held the week of October 4th. Both virtual and in person conferences have been made available. Thank you for completing the survey to indicate your preferred format (in person vs. virtual) and a requested time if selecting in person. Our staff will continue to work on scheduling early next week to coordinate sibling in person conferences for October 5th and 7th (4:00-7:00 PM). Our goal is to send appointment information out by the end of the day on Wednesday, September 29th. In accordance with the current mask mandate for our elementary schools, all persons will be required to wear a mask inside the building during in person parent/teacher conferences. Parent/Teacher conferences provide an important opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress in school. Thank you for partnering with us in support of your child!

True Success

After piloting for one year during the 2019-2020 school year and fully implementing the program last year, we continue to utilize the True Success program to enrich our classrooms with creative and engaging character education lessons. These lessons align with a monthly theme. They include: Respect, Responsibility, Gratitude, Self-Control, Grit, Courage, Encouragement, Compassion, and Integrity. Feel free to visit their website at to learn more.
