November Newsletter
Skyview High School
Dear Storm Families,
Autumn in the Felida/Salmon Creek/Hazel Dell area is filled with color and crisp winds. I enjoy running and on the weekends my routes take me through many of the streets along Lakeshore Avenue, 78th Street and near the WSU-Vancouver campus. What a beautiful area we live in.
Although, the weather continues to change, Skyview’s academic and extra-curricular activities continue to be a standard bearer in the state of Washington. Of special note from the 2017-2018 school year:
· $5 million was awarded in scholarships last year to graduating seniors.
· 70% of all students at Skyview have above 90% attendance.
· In the Spring of 2018, 507 students took 915 Advanced Placement exams. (64.3% of those students received college credit for achieving a 3 or better on the exam.)
· 95% of all students have NO disciplinary suspensions or expulsions.
· Over 1200 students cleared for athletics, band, dance, orchestra or other extra-curricular activities during the school year. (Over 50% of the whole student body.)
Our core values of trust, integrity and commitment to excellence are reflected in these accomplishments and continue to drive our community to even greater achievements.
As Thanksgiving Break quickly approaches, I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone in StormNation for their contributions towards supporting all of our kids.
Sincerely,
James Gray

Student Spotlight: Annika Epperly
Annika of Skyview High School recently was named one of 16,000 semifinalists from across the U.S. for the National Merit Scholarship. Semifinalist status is attained based on score on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The total number of semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of high school seniors nationwide.
Next, Epperly will have an opportunity to compete for finalist status and earn a National Merit Scholarship in spring 2019. Excellent Job Annika!
The Lost & Found is already full!
Please encourage your student(s) to stop by the 400 wing, during the school day, and check for their lost coats, hoodies, backpacks, water bottles, and more. Unclaimed items will soon be donated!
