Grayhawk PAWSletter

March 2021

Dear Grayhawk Family,

Welcome to our Grand Re-Re-Re… Opening - It has been absolutely wonderful to have students back on campus! The last two weeks have gone very smoothly. It was really quite impressive. Everyone has been great about wearing their masks and keeping a safe distance.

We’ve had a few questions arise about switching modalities or switching back and forth between the two (PVConnect and PVInperson). Here are some examples:

  • Switching back and forth between modalities is very challenging for teachers. When a child is absent, it may likely take the teacher a day or two to either prepare hard copy materials, or upload and assign to individual children in the Google Classroom. This cannot be accomplished instantaneously when a student pops into the Meet unexpectedly. Here are some guidelines:

    • If you are planning an absence (i.e. travel out of town), please communicate your plans well ahead of time with the teacher to make arrangements. It will likely take the teacher a day or two to prepare materials for the absence.

    • Unless you have made other arrangements well ahead of time with your teacher, absences will be treated as they were in past years. Please call the absence into the attendance line and your child can make up the work upon return. If the absence is unexpected, please do not make an impromptu switch to PVConnect.

    • If your child is going to be tardy to school, please bring them to school, even if late and call the tardy into the attendance line. Please do not make an impromptu switch to PVConnect.

  • PVConnect to PVInperson - If your child is in PVConnect at home, and you are ready to send them back to InPerson, just let us know. We will coordinate with the classroom teacher to make sure we have everything arranged and let you know a start date.

  • Isolation or quarantine - Your child’s teacher will make the appropriate adjustment to transition your child to PVConnect for the duration of the isolation or quarantine.

If you ever have any questions regarding the current system in place, please do not hesitate to reach out to your teacher or the front office. We are here to help you navigate through the rest of this year as smoothly as possible.

As always, we thank you for your continued support and patience while we maneuver through this constantly changing year. It really is wonderful having our kiddos back on campus and seeing their smiles daily. We are very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community.

Respectfully,

Michelle Pavlik, Principal

Nurse's Corner

Beautiful Weather = Seasonal Allergies! If your child has seasonal allergies, please talk with your child's doctor on an appropriate treatment plan to keep them comfortable. Seasonal allergy symptoms also mimic COVID like symptoms so please communicate with me, the school nurse, and provide a doctor's note and treatment plan.

Stay Safe and Healthy,

Nurse Katie
