READ ACROSS AMERICA
Check out our video...
Our Buddy Read Was a Success!
Throughout the month, we will continue our celebration for our love of books with morning meeting classroom discussions and building-wide activities.
Weeks of March 6th, March 13th and March 20th
- Each week, there are three SEL-themed "Read Alouds" with guided questions.
- After each read-aloud book, classes will have discussions and then post some of their thoughts on one of the anchor charts located in our hallways.
Week of March 27th
- Monday through Wednesday - Book Walk, Initial Read and Close Read of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.
- Thursday - Watch movie short (15 minutes) with classroom discussion.
- Friday - Assembly in the gym as a culminating celebration of Read Across America month!
Yay, reading!!
Important Dates & Cafeteria Info...
As you know, from previous district and school communications, federal waivers for free meals expired in June 2022. All districts have been required to return to pre-pandemic operations for the 2022-23 school year. Meals free of charge will be available only to those students who qualify through Direct Certification, Categorical Eligibility, or the 2022-2023 Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals. Please contact the main office if you need assistance with completing an application: 732.505.5830.
We encourage you to review the weekly menu with your child to determine what days (if any) they will purchase lunch. Our district is committed to ensuring the health of our students and we will never deny a student lunch if they report that they are hungry or have not brought a lunch from home. YOUTH ART MONTH
ATTENDANCE SUPERSTARS
Congrats!
I want to acknowledge our Attendance Superstars for the month of February. I want to especially highlight grade three students, who had the highest rates of attendance compared to any other grade level. Nice job grade three!
The following classes should be celebrated for having the highest attendance rates for their grade levels: Ms. DeMola, Ms. Riccardelli, Mrs. Earls, Mrs. Shea, Ms. Funk, Mr. Liguori, Mrs. Dugan and Mr. Frake (they were a fifth grade tie).
Did you know?
Chronic absence appears to have doubled by the end of the 2021-22 school year. It now affects nearly one out of three students (or 16 million vs. 8 million students in the 2018-19 school year). This has potentially devastating effects on students' academic achievement and long-term success.
Cafeteria Sporkey Winners!
Congrats!
Ms. DeMola, Ms. Gaston, Mrs. Pallen, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Memoli, Mrs. Earls, Mrs. Palmieri, Mrs. Relyea, Mrs. Goldman, Ms. Gonzalez, Mrs. Misenheimer, Ms. Sylvester, Ms. Intile, Ms. Meskin, Mrs. Ackerman and Mrs. Panaretos.
Lost & Found
Please help
Also, please do not send any valuable items into school with your child. On occasion, students will lose costly or sentimental items, especially on the playground or field.
If your child is missing any belongings, please encourage them to look in the lost and found.
Thank you for your support.
