Day 1

Read Aloud

"What do you have for breakfast?"

"How would sausages move while frying in a pan?"

"Two Fat Sausages"

2 fat sausages sizzling in a pan.
2 fat sausages sizzling in a pan.
1 went ‘POP’, and the other went ‘BANG’.

Activities

Create a body percussion movement to describe the highlighted vocabulary.

(Eg. rubbing hands together for sizzle, or snapping fingers for frying, or stomping feet for bang.)

Demonstrate the percussion movements while reading the chant in unison.

Practice the chant in unison with the created movements.


"Would you like to revise or add another movement?"

Practice in unison any adjusted changes.

Demonstrate in unison the final product.

  • Sing "Two Fat Sausages" in unison while maintaining the beat using a patsching motion.

  • "I want you to sing and patsch the song using a softer sound."

  • Have the students create different levels using body height to represent the changes in dynamics.
  • Rehearse chant including movement and dynamic variations.
  • Record performance and playback on computer using a camera. iPhone or blackberry or other recordable device.


Consolidation:

  • "Which dynamic would use to sing a baby to sleep and why?"

  • " When might you want to increase the volume?"
