Mrs. Olinger's Weekly Update
Kindergarten Ireland Elementary
January 20, 2020
Classroom Learning
Phonics Skills: We will be working on blending and finding the medial sounds in CVC words. Students will be practicing rhyming words during this time as well. For example if I say the word bad, they will have to give me a word that rhymes with it, such has had. We will also continue working on letter recognition and sounds from the past quarter. In addition to last week's skills we are going to start adding sounds to change words. Our letter for this week is the letter Ff.
Writing: We will be working on fine motor stations that include play-doh, lacing cards, stringing beads, etc. We will also practice making sentences and how to stretch out words on our own. This week our writing will focus on how Bear feels in the stories.
Math: Students will begin addition and practicing using terms such as adding, put together, plus, and sum. We will sort, add, and graph gummy bears to go along with our bear unit. We will continue practicing counting to 100 by ones each day during calendar, as well as counting to 100 by 10s.
Bear Week
On Thursday kindergarten students should bring a stuffed bear to school!!
