COUNTDOWN MODE
Though the countless April showers have managed to make for a yucky Spring, Summer is right around the corner. With only 3 ½ weeks left before school is out, we are all in "countdown mode," and some of you (and your children) may be experiencing the "end-of-school slump."
As excited as everyone is for summer vacation, there’s still plenty of work to do in the last few weeks of school, so as parents, we should make every effort to stay committed. Additionally, there’s a lot of loose ends to tie up – papers to come home, end-of-year celebrations to attend and the list goes on! Here are a few tips to help you avoid the end-of-year slump:
- Stick to Routines
- Give Rewards for Tasks Well-done
- Really Check Homework
- Think Ahead for Next School Year
- Get Outside
- Stay Involved
As always, please continue to send any inquiries or suggestions to us at WAPSparentcommuity@gmail.com.

You've been Challenged!
Right now, Primary School parent participation for The Woodward Fund is 46% compared to over 70% participation at peer schools. Parents, we can do better. It's not the amount you contribute but the fact that you contribute. Every little bit helps. It is not too late for you to support The Woodward Fund. In fact, your gift will now have twice the impact since all gifts received between now and May 31 will be matched dollar for dollar, up to and including $135,000.
From classroom technology and professional development for teachers to high-quality musical instruments and other learning tools, many of the opportunities that make Woodward special are made possible by The Woodward Fund.
Gifts can be made online by clicking below, through the mail, or by simply contacting Claire Hegarty at 404.765.4043 or claire.hegarty@woodward.edu. Thank you for your support!
SPRING FLING IS COMING SOON!
We are looking forward to celebrating Spring during our upcoming Field Day and Spring Fling events. Traditionally, we gather as a Primary School family for a morning of exciting games and events for our children followed by a picnic lunch on the playground (be sure to bring your lawn blankets). After lunch, Spring Fling commences with exciting activities including a DJ, a storyteller, an art/craft station and refreshing popsicles for our little ones.
The day ends at 2:00 p.m., and parents may check their children out at that time. While children can remain until dismissal at 3:00 p.m., please note that there will be no After School Care that day so children must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. Buses will run on their regular schedules. Please make sure to volunteer to make the experience awesome for our kids! If interested in volunteering to assist with Field Day/Spring Fling, please sign up by clicking the link below.
Field Day & Spring Fling is an out of uniform day for all students. Each class wears a different color shirt purchased by the Primary School with the funds raised through Box Tops and Publix cards!
Schedule of Events for Friday, May 8th:
Field Day: 8:45 -11:00 / Lunch: 11:15 – 12:00 / Spring Fling: 12:00 – 2:00
