While the iReady data is just one piece of information, we use it, along with daily work and unit assessments to make our instructional decisions.
LSS Spirit Days
Spirit Days are first and foremost for fun and school spirit! Any money that is raised is icing on the cake. So please encourage your children to wear the hat, the PJs or crazy hair! Anything else is gravy!

From the Secretary
This is a reminder that if there is any change in the dismissal routine for your child, we must have this change in writing and submitted to the teacher or office at the beginning of the day. Given the high number of changes we receive daily, we are required to have a note to accommodate any change in dismissal. We will follow your child’s regular dismissal routine unless a note is received. Your child’s safety is extremely important to us!
With a continuous effort to save on paper, all weekly and monthly newsletters will be sent home via e-mail. If you do not want the information e-mailed to you, please send in a note to let me know. If you have not received any e-mails from me or Laura Ryan, please let me know. It may be an error in our system.
All absence calls can be made directly to the Nurse at 860-870-6088. You may leave a voice mail message before or after school hours.

The Nurse's Corner
Dear LSS Families,
We would like to announce that the North Central District Health Department is currently offering a FREE Asthma Intervention Program called “Putting on AIRS”. This program is funded by the CT Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).Through a free home assessment, things that may be triggering attacks or making asthma worse in your family will be identified, and free educational and training materials will be provided. This program is shown to reduce school absenteeism and proven to reduce asthma symptoms. For more information please contact Tricia Sedelow BSN, RN-BC Program Coordinator (860)745-0383 tsedelow@ncdhd.org. You can also ask your health care provider about an asthma action plan and a referral to this asthma intervention program. Please, see attached program flyer and information.
We would also like to thank all the families that donated winter clothes for the LSS Winter Clothes Drive and contributed to keep everyone warm in our community during this winter.
The nurse’s office is in need of gently used children’s clothes (especially boys and girls pants sizes 3-10) to supply our Clothes Bank and be able to provide extra sets of clothes when children need them during the school day. Any donation will be much appreciated.
Have a great winter time! Enjoy, explore, and have fun with your family!

From our Family Liason
Dear families from LSS,
We would like to invite you to participate with your child/children in our monthly trivia game.
The purpose of this activity is to continue increasing learning and collaboration at home in an interactive and fun way.
Each Friday we will send around 3 to 4 questions to complete at home. The students will bring them back on Monday.
If you decide to participate, you will be entered in our monthly raffle to win a prize.
We encourage you to help your child/children find the answers using books, going to the library or museum, playing a game, or any other method you would like to use.
We hope you enjoy it!
