MARINER WEEKLY!

MARCH 7, 2022

Wednesday, March 9, 2022 - 1/2 day for Students

This Wednesday we will be having an 11:15am dismissal for all students. All staff will be participating in professional development throughout the afternoon.

Changes to the TR Schools Covid Protocol

As we were made aware through Dr. Genco's letter of February 28th, this coming Monday, March 7th, Toms River Schools will become mask optional both in our building as well as on the bus. We will continue to inform staff as well as parents/guardians if their child is considered a close contact in school; however, as long as those students/staff show no symptoms, will not be required to quarantine, regardless of vaccination status.

Additionally, please see the following points of importance:

● Positive students/staff will continue to quarantine for 5 days and return on day 6, as long as they are feeling better. They will be required to wear a mask in school through day 10.

● Please continue to report all school or household close contacts and illnesses to your child’s school nurse or building principal.

● PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL or COME TO WORK WITH COVID SYMPTOMS OR IF YOU ARE SICK.

Of course, students and staff members may choose to continue wearing masks throughout the day. We respect the rights of those individuals to do so. As I have stated throughout this process, our ultimate goal has always been to keep our kids in school and continuing with our normal educational process. We will continue moving forward to that end.

If you have any questions regarding the above information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment 2022

This March, schools across New Jersey will administer the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) in English language arts (ELA) and Mathematics. The assessments for English language arts (ELA) and Mathematics will be administered to students in grade 11 for the purpose of meeting the state graduation assessment requirement. The state-mandated NJGPA will be administered in our district from March 14 through March 17, 2022 with make-up dates from March 21 through March 24, 2022. Please see the attached parent letter for additional information. Thank you.

Testing Rosters have been sent to our 11th grade English and Math teachers so they can let students know where they should report for testing. Testing locations have also been posted outside the Guidance Office and by the Media Center where PM buses pick up. Things to remember for testing days:

- All 11th graders will take the NJGPA test.

- Please know your testing location before the morning of the test.

- On testing days, students should go directly to their testing location, do not go to 1st Period/HR first.

- All students should charge their chrome book the night before and bring it with them to their testing location.

- Students may bring their own earbuds for the English test days, but they must be compatible with a chrome book and CANNOT be wireless.
