Jo's Sport Talk

Last Tuesday, the TPS Swim Team competed at the South Cluster Swimming Championships, racing against the top swimmers from St Mary's, Welcome Bay, Maungatapu and Selwyn Ridge Primary Schools. The highlight of this event was the very exciting inter-school relay races. The TPS Boys team: Max Taylor, Louis Evans-O'Loan, Reid Dempster Rivett-Mclennan and Boston Brott, had a convincing win, beating the other boys teams by a whopping 10 seconds. Our Grand Relay team: Jorja Donaldson, Chiara Masey, Timothy Cresswell and Fabian Hill, had us all screaming and cheering, with a close win over St Mary's.

Congratulations to the following swimmers who placed in their events and have qualified for the WBOP Swimming Championships next week. Good Luck!

A few TPS kids participated in the recent Pahoia School Triathlon. Kate Faitl finished 3rd in the 11year old girls and Timothy Cresswell won the 9 year old boys race. Well done!

Max Taylor competed in the BOP Primary & Intermediate Schools Golf Championships a couple of weeks ago. Max joined ex-TPS students, Kate Taylor and Jack Eastwood, in the Tauranga Intermediate Team for the day. It was the first time Max had played 18 holes, and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I am always happy to share photos and news about any team or individual sporting successes with our school community.

The sports notice for Terms 2 and 3 has been emailed to families, and registrations are available on our TPS School Shop. Registrations will be open until tonight (Thursday 8th April). If you are unable to access the school shop, there are also copies of the notice in the school office and payment can be made there.

TPS will be entering teams into the local netball, hockey and basketball leagues. All information, including dates, times and costs are included in the notice. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If your child is interested in playing rugby or football, these are done through local clubs.
