The Mustang Message

December Edition

Monthly Update

Oh, the weather outside is freezing!! As we approach winter and Christmas break, we are experiencing snow and cold weather! Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate shoes and clothing each day. Also, please make sure your child arrives at school with a coat and any other winter accessories they may need. If you need any assistance with winter clothing, please contact Mrs. Hoagland in the office.

Christmas Break

Christmas break will take place between December 21st-December 31st. During this time, it is important that we continue to be cautious and work together as a community to keep one another healthy and safe. Please be careful during the break and take preventative measures outside of school to protect our community. We love seeing your child(ren) every day and want to continue face to face instruction at school. Together as a team we will make this happen!

We are so very thankful for our little community and school. We truly believe that we are blessed with the most amazing students and families and are lucky to serve and deeply care for each one of them. Thank you for sharing your child with us and allowing us to make a difference in each one of their lives. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Snow Days

Snow, Snow, Snow!

If a snow day does present itself, we do our best to communicate this information with you as quickly as possible. Following the decision to close school for the day, the superintendent contacts local news stations to help inform our community. Each teacher is then notified through our school phone tree. Families of students who ride the bus will be notified by their bus driver. Students who either walk to school or get dropped off by a parent will be notified by their classroom teacher.

PTA Fundraising

Wow! Thank you to all of those who participated in our Texas Roadhouse Rolls fundraiser. We are going to have many families around here eating those tasty rolls and enjoying that delicious honey butter! We are so grateful for our community participation and the ability to bring some extra resources to help our school continue to be great! Here is some information on some up-coming PTA Events:

Candy Cane Grams

For the month of December, the PTA will be trading our monthly popcorn sale to a candy cane gram sale. Order forms have been sent out with students. They are due on November 30th. The candy cane grams will be delivered to students on December 10th.

Hat Day

Our Hat Day for the month of December will be on the 10th. Do not forget to send your child with their favorite hat and bring your dollar to school!

Christmas Store

Students will be provided with the opportunity to shop in our annual Christmas store for presents for their loved ones. PTA will be placing an order form on their Facebook page to allow parents and students to view these items before going to the store. Students will attend the store on December 15th with their class. If you could support your child by helping them pick out the items they would like to purchase before attending the store that would be much appreciated!

Merry and Bright!

Our amazing teachers and staff love to add to the holiday spirit! This year, we have teamed up to bring our students "Candy Land!" For the week of December 14th-17th the entire school will be decorated to mimic the Candy Land game board. We are so excited to participate in this annual event and would like to invite our students to join us in the fun. Students are encouraged to join our staff and spread the spirit by participating in our Candy Land dress up days! The information is located below:

Monday- Candy Cane Day- Wear red and white!

Tuesday- Gingerbread Man Day

Wednesday- Rainbow Bridge Day- Wear all different colors!

Thursday- Christmas PJ Day!

Christmas Music Program

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we will be holding a virtual Christmas music program this year. Students have already been hard at work practicing these songs to share with you. As we get closer to the end of December, additional details will be provided to help you access this video! Thank you Mrs. Olsen! We are so lucky to have such an amazing music teacher!

Mustangs SHINE!

This month we moved to the "I" in SHINE. The "I" stands for invest in yourself. Students have been focusing on what investing in yourself means and what types of ways they can do this throughout the day. When students or classes are caught investing in themselves, they earn a star for their grade level. The winning grade level that had the most stars for this month was first grade!! They earned themselves an ice cream sundae party! Way to go!

November Mustangs of the Month

Each month, every teacher will be nominating a student that demonstrated the qualities of SHINE! Here are the students that were trying hard everyday and investing in themselves for the month of November:
