Jackrabbit Journal
#letsmakewaves March 2018
From Mrs. Frank
Happy March! We have been busy at Owens! The kids are working so hard to learn their dances for Western Day! I hope that you will be able to come and watch your Jackrabbit dance on March 9th. Please plan on leaving your student at school after their dance time. We need every minute to teach our babies. Thank you for continuing to read nightly with your student. Reading aloud with your child builds vocabulary, language skills, and literacy skills. It also improves concentration, curiosity and memory. I attached the an article that has more information about the benefits of reading aloud. Reading aloud is also a nice quiet time to spend time together at the end of the day.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. Amy Frank

FAMILY FUN RUN AND CARNIVAL
15th Annual Owens’ Family Fun Run and Carnival
On April 14, 2018, Owens Elementary will be hosting our fourteenth annual Family Fun Run and Carnival. Not only is this a fun-filled activity for students and their families, but it is a fundraiser to help support our school’s instructional programs and the physical education department. We will have a 1 mile fun run followed by activities and food for everyone to enjoy. There are two main ways you can help us out. First, we are looking for sponsors to help us with the cost of hosting the event. For $250 or more, all sponsors will have their name placed on the back of the Family Fun Run and Carnival T-shirts which the students, families and staff may purchase. You may also sponsor an event and have your name placed by that event. For a list of these events or if you wish to be a sponsor, please contact Coach Kramer at janet.kramer@cfisd.net.
We are also looking for donations for our auctions. Any gift certificates for merchandise or services would be greatly appreciated. Also, any products that could be displayed and bid on are also encouraged. Even if you personally cannot provide these items, we need help soliciting gift certificates and items from restaurants, recreational venues, stores, etc. If you are good at soliciting and have some free time, we would definitely appreciate your help. Please contact Coach Hughes at lisa.hughes@cfisd.net if there is any way you would be able to support our fundraiser by assisting with the auction items.
Thanks in advance,
Lisa Hughes and Janet Kramer
