Pete the Cat visits Reynolds School
Pete the Cat and Miss Erin, from the USR Public Library, visited all of our Kindergarten students at Reynolds School. The children enjoyed a Pete the Cat story and then learned how they can get a USR library card of their own. "It's important for children to fill their homes with books at this beginner reading stage in life. Getting a USR library card will allow even our youngest children to enjoy wonderful books at home," said Mrs. Santos. Check out the USR Public Library website to learn how to get your own library card.

Classroom Highlight- Mrs. Maginnis' Class
Mrs. Maginnis loves reading chapter books and book series throughout the year with her students. "I love the bonding that comes from reading a book together as a class and getting excited for the next one in the series," she explains.
Mrs. Maginnis began reading Charlotte's Web to her students. After the first chapter they discussed the main parts, how the character's feelings changed and even made predictions for what might happen in the next chapter. After their first chapter, she announced to them that they were ready to join Mrs. Maginnis's official book club! Each student received a journal and used it to write about what happened in the chapter that she read aloud to them. Writing in reading journals is something they will continue to do throughout the year after their "Book Club" read alouds.
Halloween Parade
Our Halloween Day Parade will be held on the front loop of Reynolds School on Thursday, October 31, 2019. We will hold one parade for Reynolds School that will take place at 9:00 am. The children are asked to wear their costumes to school. They should bring clothes that they can change into following the parade. Please keep in mind that we do not permit scary masks.
A letter is coming home with more information. We look forward to a spooktacular day!
BUS SAFETY DRILLS
On September 23rd, all Reynolds students participated in an annual bus evacuation drill. Scholastic Bus Co. invited students to board a school bus and practice how to evacuate the bus via the rear emergency exit door. The teachers accompanied the students during the bus evacuation. Students learned what to do in the event of a bus emergency and how to keep themselves safe. Mandatory bus drills benefit all students, as students travel on a bus for field trips and many to/from school. A second bus evacuation drill will be held in the spring.
