Positive Behavior Support

Last week, we continued our Positive Behavior Support program - Panthers C.A.R.E. We focused on the R - Responsibility. Please ask your child what responsibility means and how to show responsibility throughout the school. We reinforced responsible behavior throughout the week by providing students with virtual C.A.R.E. tickets. We will be using the virtual PBIS Rewards to reward our C.A.R.E. tickets. These tickets will be redeemed in our online C.A.R.E. store.

Running Club Returns

The Panther Running Club will begin on Wednesday, September 7. Students are welcome to join our Running Club on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings to work toward running 100 miles. Students must be on campus by 7:35 AM to participate. The gate will open at 7:30 and close at 7:35 for those students participating in Running Club. After 7:35, our athletes will not be allowed through the gate.

Friday Night Live - Student Leadership

On Tuesday, September 6, interested upper-grade students will meet with Mrs. Cowan at lunch to learn about Friday Night Live, our student leadership group. This group's first big project, Red Ribbon Week, encourages young people to take the lead on alcohol and drug prevention campaigns. Additonally, throughout the year our leadership group will coordinate campus and community service initiatives. Along the way, they learn leadership, communication, team-building, and problem-solving skills.

Paper Education - Online Tutoring

We are so excited to offer our 4th-6th grade students access to Paper Education. Paper allows students to receive live tutoring in any subject, 24/7. Paper can also provide essay writing support by reviewing essays and providing feedback on how to improve your grammar, content, and structure.

Elevo PE Program

This week’s games of the week are Giggle Game and Push Up Pros, and the focus is optimism. Optimism is an attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome of something will be positive, favorable, and desirable. Optimism builds resilience. It strengthens us to try again rather than give up. It allows us to keep our goals and dreams in play so we can act on the motivation to keep working toward them.

After School Programs

We are excited to be able to offer multiple after school activity options for GRADES 1 - 6. Flyers have already gone home for basketball, Legos, and soccer. We have more options in the works for Wednesday, and we will share this information soon. Also, we will have different sessions during out winter session.

After School Hoops: Thursdays beginning September 15, from 2:30 - 3:30 PM

Bricks4Kidz: Mondays beginning September 12, from 2:30 - 3:30 PM

After School Soccer: Tuesdays beginning September 6, from 2:30 - 3:30 PM

Meaningful Mondays

On Monday, September 12, we will begin Meaningful Mondays. Each Monday, we encourage our Panthers to wear clothes with a positive message.

English Learner Advisory Committee Meeting

All parents of English Language Learners and parents of students who have been redesignated are invited to attend our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting on Tuesday, September 27, at 8:30 AM. We will also be sending an invitation through email to all families with English Language Learners and redesignated students.

Nutrition Services

Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided to all students at no cost this school year. Breakfast is served before school starts, beginning at 8:00. Please be sure to have your child here at 8:00, if you would like them to eat breakfast before school starts. This ensures they have enough time to finish.

You can find the breakfast menu here:

All students need to be sure they let their teacher know the day before they are buying lunch. We may not have enough lunches if they do not request one. Also, please remind your child that they should not be getting lunch if they are bringing one.

You can find the lunch menu here:

Wednesday Schedule and CARES

On Wednesdays, brunch is served during recess instead of lunch at the end of the day. Due to this, students attending CARES will need to pack a lunch, if the snacks served are not sufficient. Picking up lunch from nutrition services will not be an option on Wednesdays. Please contact CARES with any questions about the snack schedule.

usagain Clothing Drop

On our campus, we have an USAgain drop-off bin. This bin is for used clothing, footwear, cloth accessories, and linen. Our school receives a small amount for each pound collected and USAgain plants a tree for each bin filled.

Lost and Found

Please be sure to label all lunchboxes, sweatshirts, and jackets. Items are already beginning to appear in our lost and found! If your child is missing an item, please remind them to check the lost and found outside of the office.

COVID-19 Procedures and Safety

Individuals who are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact their healthcare provider and stay home. If your child or a member of your household has tested positive or is awaiting COVID-19 test results, please follow public health guidance.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please contact the school and/or email me at We will gather information from you and provide you with your options.

If a student tests positive, they are required to isolate. The isolation guidance requires 10 days without testing from when symptoms began or a positive test (whichever comes first). The student can return to school on day 11; however, if a student tests negative on day 5 using an FDA-approved antigen test and all symptoms have improved that student is able to return to school on day 5. If a home test was used, students will need to bring the attestation form to the office upon their return. The student must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

Please refer to the OUSD Safety and Health Driven Plan and the County of Orange Health Officer’s Orders directly for more information.

The Orange Unified School District will be offering COVID-19 testing Monday through Thursday at the comprehensive high schools and the district office from 2:30 - 5:00.

See the flyer below to register for testing. You MUST register prior to arriving to test. Scan the QR code in the flyer or click here:
