March Updates
Hello Blue Jay families!
Please read through the following updates for important information about our school.
CLASSIFIED STAFF APPRECIATION March 7-11
We are so grateful for our outstanding classified staff members! They serve our school in so many ways from keeping our building clean to preparing good food to supervising recess to providing instruction to running the front office and health room! We certainly could not operate without them. And, on that note, we have some available classified positions so if you are interested in being part of our wonderful team, please contact us.
KINDER INFORMATION NIGHT
If you have a child who will turn 5 before September 1, we're looking forward to welcoming them to Centennial for Kindergarten this fall! We will hold a virtual information night on March 9 at 6:00 when you can find out all about our program and meet some of our outstanding Kinder teachers. We will be sending the link to connect to the meeting so please check our website and watch for an email update.
MASKING UPDATE
With the upcoming changes in mask requirements, we want to make sure families know that, at school, everyone can choose whether or not to wear a mask. Some children and adults may choose to continue to wear a mask due to medical reasons, because they have a sick family member at home, or just because they prefer to.
When masks become optional, it will become increasingly important for students and staff to maintain 6 ft distance whenever possible and practice thorough handwashing.
COVID-19 Update
Unless they have been fully vaccinated, students who are exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must quarantine and will be given specific quarantining instructions by Lane County Health Authority regarding a return date. For the health and safety of your child and all students and staff at CES, please inform the school if your student has been exposed in this way.
COVID continues to be a concern for all of us and we appreciate your support as we work together to keep our students safe and healthy. Please make frequent handwashing, for 20 seconds, a normal part of your routine and keep your child home if they are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, upset stomach, or headache. Students must be symptom free for 24 hours to return to school . Please click here to check the SPS website for additional information about vaccines and other resources.
VACCINES & BOOSTERS
Children 5-17 years old are up-to-date on their COVID vaccines if they have completed their primary series of vaccinations plus two weeks. Quarantine protocols are determined based on the level of vaccine that a person has.
We encourage all eligible individuals to ensure that they are up-to-date with this vaccine as it is one of the most powerful ways to limit the spread and seriousness of COVID-19 symptoms.
To find information about vaccination clinics available throughout our community visit www.lanecounty.org/vaxclinics.
WARM CLOTHING/LOST & FOUND
It's still a little chilly out so please make sure your student has warm outdoor clothing. Also, remind your student to check the Lost and Found at school and check out this page on our school website for missing items.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
We'd like to know how we can help support our community. Please click here and take a minute or two to fill out this brief survey and give us your feedback.

Care & Connect
March
Positive self-talk is an optimistic voice in your head that encourages you to keep trying, to look at the bright side, and to overcome challenges. It’s good for you, too. Research suggests people with positive self-talk have less stress, are better at coping with challenges, and are able to think differently to solve problems.

Message from the Principal
We've got a lot happening this spring; Kindergarten Information Night, Family Literacy Week, Spring Break, and Read-a-thon, to name a few. So, even though we aren't yet able to have in person gatherings and celebrations, I hope you'll take advantage of these opportunities to participate in the Centennial community.
We love our CES community and look forward to a great next few months!
Sincerely,
Principal Williams
