RSPB Bird Watch

This weekend is the RSPB Bird Watch. The garden event for homes runs from 29th – 31st January, and the school event runs until 22nd February. Some teachers will be including activities in lessons next week, but anyone can choose to join in over the weekend. Feeding, watching and identifying birds can be a great activity. You can find out more at:

How much do things cost to run?

A good way to save energy in the home is to focus first on those appliances that use the most electricity. Check out the table below to find out the energy use and costs of a range of household appliances (info from the CSE) #saveenergy #savemoney

Big picture

Remote Learning

Please remember that pupils should be accessing remote learning using their school account. If you are using a shared device, please remember to log out of personal Gmail accounts before accessing learning. We know that school accounts have caused some issues with access to Youtube videos, but personal accounts can cause difficulties accessing and submitting tasks.

Inset Day

The DFE has confirmed that schools will close to all pupils (including those of critical workers) for half term. As previously advertised, Friday 12th February is a school closure day for INSET. Therefore, the last day of the half term for all children will be Thursday 11th February. There will not be any on-site provision until Monday 22nd, and teachers will not set remote learning for children during the half term break. This will also resume on Monday 22nd February.

If your child is attending school as part of our provision for critical workers, it is important that they are punctual. Please remember that they should arrive at 8:50am and must leave at 3:30pm. This will help us to maintain our organisation and help keep everyone safe.

New Member of Staff

We have been delighted to welcome a new member of staff to our team this week. Mrs Pedley will be working mainly in Sycamore class and has already been supporting our KS2 critical worker bubble. She has a lot of school experience and will be an asset to our team. I am sure that she will be made most welcome.

New Assistant Curate

We are also delighted to welcome a new Assistant Curate to our parish. Rev Phil Grayson will be working alongside Father Chris in the Benefices of Sherburn in Elmet with Barkston Ash & Saxton, and Aberford & Micklefield. This will include some work with our school. We are looking forward to welcoming him once restrictions are lifted.

Office Closed

For the time being, the school office will remain closed. Voicemail and email messages are being picked up from home, and so please do leave a message if you need to contact us and we will attend to it quickly.

Should you receive a ‘test positive’ result for your child it is VITAL that you notify us as soon as possible: During school hours – directly to the school office via 01937 557396.
