January 2014 Report

Angie Miller, Library Media Specialist

Patti Bogert, Assistant Library Media Specialist

What's Been Happening?

January felt like the longest, coldest, darkest month of the year, but here in the library, things were always alive and jumping!

*As the end of the semester neared, our tables, chairs, outlets and floor spaces were often completely occupied by students finishing projects--the resource center, filled with colored pencils, glue sticks, scissors, paper cutter, etc was well used!

*Senor Henderson and the library staff worked at putting together a Google Site with the 7th grade Espanol students (stay tuned for a link--it's under the editing process right now!).

*Mrs. Savage and Mrs. Miller began integrating literacy into her A Block PE class. Students are making goals and reflecting on their practices, while preparing for a debate on whether students should receive PE credit for Varsity sports.

*Professional Development was offered on Friday the 24th to teachers at the Library Open House. Teachers came in and learned about Turn It In, Twitter as a Teacher Tool, Our Media Lab, and LibGuides.

*Mrs. Miller began visiting Mr. Hayman's Creative Writing Class to do weekly librarian lessons. Lesson 1: Great Beginnings.

*Book talks book talks book talks! English classes filled the schedule to sign up for new independent reads.

*Mr. Quinn's video class took a tour of the media lab and is concocting exciting ways to use it.
