Wauwatosa Montessori School
May 20, 2022
Dear Families:
We are down to the home stretch of this school year and there are lots of end of the year opportunities to engage and celebrate the year of learning, starting tonight with our PTSA Family Fun Night from 5:30-7:30pm. Come and enjoy outdoor fun with your peers and their families.
On Monday, we have our Spring Band, Orchestra, Choir Concert at 2pm. Guests can begin arriving at 1:30pm for the show, please do not come prior to that.
Tuesday, June 7th is our all school Field Day & Micro Marathon. Families are doing a great job raising funds for the PTSA and their continued support of our school events, field trips, all school read, outdoor beautification projects, and much more. A volunteer sign up will come out next week as we always need a number of adults willing to help run our field day stations. This is a great way to get involved! If you can't help at at Field Day, consider signing up to be a Buddy Family to one of our incoming new families next year. Buddy Family Signup Genius
Last, but not least, our AP Capstone Presentations is our culminating event on June 8th where we celebrate our Wauwatosa Montessori School 8th grade students and their promotion to high school through their presentation of a capstone project.
You'll see MANY pictures in the newsletter this week. There is always great learning taking place, but the end of the year is special as students reach the pinnacle of engaging in their learning and have many amazing products of that learning to showcase. From our 8th graders hard work on their end of the year Capstone projects, the 7th graders planting the gardens, our proud Upper Elementary students showcasing their completed cell projects, our Lower Elementary students showcasing their skills in cubing binomials, looking at the form and function of flowers and the water cycle. Children's House students enjoyed being able to take the walking journey to the Tosa West Planetarium and are enjoying the fun of working through their end of the year ABC countdown. Lots of proud faces!
As always, please reach out with any questions!
Sincerely,
Ms.Imperiale
Principal

Snapshots from the Week
Lion's Club Donations
Do you have an old pair (or many pairs of glasses) just laying around. Do you know someone who has an extra hearing aid they no longer use?
The Berghammer Family will be collecting old glasses and hearing aids to donate to the Lion's Club of Wisconsin. The Lions Club is a national service organization with many local chapters. The Lion's Club of Wisconsin has a club in Wauwatosa. They sponsor the Wisconsin Lion's Camp, which provides week-long camping for children with vision impairment, hearing loss, autism and many other situations. Many of you know that Elleanor was born deaf and uses cochlear implants. She has attended the Lions camp most summers since she was 6 years old. She (and our family) wanted to give back to the Lion's cause by collecting glasses and hearing aid for them to repurpose to people in need.
We will post a bin the entry area, where they could be dropped. If you have questions, you can contact Adam Berghammer (ammer1029@yahoo.com or 414-467-2736)
Volunteers Needed
All Tosa West juniors enrolled in the required Social Studies class American Public Policy will be presenting their research on public policy issues at West on THURSDAY, JUNE 2ND from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm. This is a required component of the class.
The Issue Fair is a GREAT way for parents of elementary or middle school students to authentically interact with high school students and to learn more about Tosa West and our curriculum.
We need at least 70 community adult evaluators to help assess and engage students in thinking about these important civic ideas. Each adult spends 10 minutes talking individually with 1 student and completes a simple evaluation rubric. Adults will talk to 10 students during the two hour event.
