Veterans Day Celebration
America—the home of the free because of the brave. We have these
privileges due to the bravery of our service men and women.
Millsap would like to honor our current and past service men and women by
celebrating them with a special patriotic program.
There are two ways to honor your veteran at Millsap.
You may send in a copy of a picture(s) of your veteran(s) for our Wall of Honor and/or send in your RSVP for our Veterans Breakfast and Program on Friday, November 1st, at 8 am.
If you would like to honor your veteran(s) at Millsap this year, please fill out and return the form below:
Counselor's Corner
The beginning of the year has been going great. Each month we have a core value. Our value this month is courage. Courage means being brave enough to do what you should, even when you’re afraid. The cowardly lion character from The Wizard of Oz is a great representation of someone who initially is afraid but becomes very courageous. Even though the lion believes that he lacks courage, he consistently proves to himself and those around him that he is brave. He hunts for food even when he is afraid. He cuts down trees and he jumps the yellow brick road, all things that require an immense amount of courage and bravery. One thing to try is identifying things with your family that make you feel afraid. Write these things down. Next, seek opportunities this month to work on being brave. For example, if you are afraid of public speaking, volunteer in your class to present a project or give a speech. It takes courage to handle difficult or hard situations, and we all need practice to do the right thing even when we’re afraid.
Parents who wish to refer their child must follow the process described in the flyer entitled Horizons Identification Process. Please review website: http://www.cfisd.net/en/parents-students/academics/gifted-talented/ . If testing is appropriate, request a HORIZONS Parent Survey and Permission to Test form from your elementary counselor, Cindy Lopez at (281)517-6036. Return the HORIZONS Parent Survey and Permission to Test form no later than November 30th. Students will not be screened unless the parent permission form is turned in on time.

BOX TOPS ARE CHANGING!!
You’ll now download the new user-friendly Box Tops App, register, add Millsap Elementary, and then scan eligible receipts containing Box Tops products!
Millsap will earn 10 cents for each Box Tops product purchased plus extra earnings for any Bonus Box Tops opportunities. The app will automatically add Box Tops to Millsap's earnings online, giving visibility to see how you are supporting your school in real-time.
Keep clipping regular Box Tops and sending them to Millsap as long as you continue to find them on packages. We will still get credit for all Box Tops submitted!
More good news: you can ‘double dip’ during the packaging transition by clipping the physical Box Tops AND scanning your receipt with those participating items.
They seem like little things that really won’t make a difference, but they DO!
Since 2010, Millsap has received over $10,300 – a dime at a time!!
Millsap appreciates the time and effort you put into collecting BoxTops!

Dear Parent or Guardian,
At the beginning of the school year, parents of students attending a campus receiving Title I funds must be notified that they may request information regarding professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers.
The federal law requires the school district to provide you this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
- · teacher certificate and licensure for the grades and subject taught;
- · college major or information regarding advanced degrees; and
- · qualifications of teacher aides or similar paraprofessionals who provide services to a child.
If you would like to receive this information, you may contact the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Human Resources Department at 281-897-4099.
