VETERANS DAY CEREMONY

Thank you to all of the Men and Women in the ROCORI community who have served our country! Today we honored that service with a Veterans Day program for our middle and high school students. We heard a great speech by Retired Navy Captain, Roy Undersander, on the values of stewardship and service. I received several positive comments about our student bodies behavior during the assembly. Our students showed great respect to our veterans and country. I was very proud of our respect and engagement of students, and our community should be as well.

Arriving Late / Leaving Early

We are working to streamline our attendance check in and out process. Students will continue to check in and out of the main office, but will begin to do this with their school issued ID. Students will need to have their Student ID with them when coming in late or leaving early. We encourage the ID be kept in the clear plastic case on their MacBook case so this is readily available. We will implement this change the Monday after Thanksgiving break. This will be a transition for our students as well as staff.

Inclement Weather

As we approach the inevitability of Minnesota Winter approaching, we want to communicate our inclement weather protocols. Because of the potential for a regularly scheduled day to become an unplanned E-learning day as weather dictates, we would encourage students to bring MacBooks to and from school.

If the Superintendent cancels schools due to inclement weather, families will receive a skyward alert by 6:00 am informing them the day is an E-Learning Day. Staff will have items placed on Schoology at 8:30 am. High School students will have approximately 30 minutes of engaged time for each class period and middle school students will have approximately 20 minutes of engaged time for each class period on inclement weather days. Staff will be available to respond to email and Schoology messages between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on inclement learning days.

Helping Families Access the Child Tax Credit by November 15!

Families with no income or low income could get at least $3,600 per child with the Child Tax Credit, plus $1,400 with the third stimulus payment - even if they have never filed taxes before and if they have not filed taxes this year. It is estimated that more than 33,000 children in Minnesota could miss out on this money if their parent/guardian has not filed.

A tool was created in partnership with the White House and the US Department of Treasury for families to file on their mobile devices in 15 minutes or less at: www.getctc.org

Attached is the English language informational flyer. Flyers are available in multiple languages at: https://childtaxcreditoutreach.org/

SENIOR PORTRAITS

ATTENTION SENIORS: if your parents/guardians want to submit your baby photo AND message, they are due next Tuesday, November 15. This is OPTIONAL and there is NO FEE to have them printed in the yearbook. Photos and messages can be submitted through email or in hard/paper copy and will be returned to you.

If you have any questions, please contact Renee at baconr@rocori.k12.mn.us

ATTENTION ROCORI MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS

ROCORI Middle School Parents are so grateful for our fabulous teachers! With parent donations, we were able to show our appreciation with a lunch during in-services.

If you didn’t get a chance to donate and are interested in donating to our Middle School Appreciation Fund, please consider donating (suggested amount-$10) via Venmo @stavroskristi by November 30. The additional funds we receive will be used through the school year for Middle School Staff Appreciation. Thanks!

ASVAB Career Exploration Program

All junior and/or senior students will have the opportunity to take part in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. Interested students will begin by taking the ASVAB test that includes segments of math and verbal skills, science and technical skills. The ASVAB scores allow one to compare their test performance with that of other students at one's grade level. Results of the aptitude test and the interest inventory enable students to evaluate their skills, estimate performance in academic and vocational endeavors, and identify potentially satisfying careers. These results are integrated with work values to help students identify and prioritize possible career choices.

The ASVAB is free of charge and will be administered at ROCORI High School, Friday, November 18th from 8:00-11:00 am. Interested students should sign up in the Guidance office by Wednesday, November 16th.

If you have any questions regarding the ASVAB, please feel free to contact your students School Counselor or visit ASVAB web site, www.asvabprogram.com
