The Joyful Teacher
When we enter the classroom with a joyful attitude and spirit our students will feel safe and comfortable with the environment we have created. Students who feel safe and comfortable are better equipped to learn and grow. This happens in the way we talk to ALL students and if we are equitable with all students.
How do we develop joy as a teacher? First, recognize the moments it occurs. What are the good moments and how can you reproduce and continue with that mindset and classroom activity that produced the joy. Second, look at each moment with students as an opportunity to grow. As teachers we are in an awesome position to influence the lives of kids...truly impact their lives...your words may be the words that change a student's entire outlook on life and living. Our words matter.
So today. Find joy in the service you perform. Find joy in the PLC you will be participating in and find Joy for yourself outside of teaching. ReNew your heart and soul.
