Why?
The question was; Does the segregation of public education based solely on race violate the Equal Protection laws of the Fourteenth Amendment? This case was basically a combination of four separate cases from four different states all relating to the topic of Segregation of public schools. They argued that such segregation violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
Outcome
The Supreme Court decided that "separate but equal" facilities are inherently unequal and they violate the 14th Amendment. They also decided that the segregation instilled a sense of inferiority that had a huge effect on the education and personal growth of the African American children.
