PCHS Pirate Update
January 15, 2021
Parent/Student Newsletters are typically sent on the third Friday of each month.
From our Principal
Pirate Families,
I hope everyone is keeping warm and safe as the Winter weather is kicking into full gear this week. I hope the start of the third quarter has gotten off to a good start. I appreciate your patience and flexibility as the counseling department works with students to adjust schedules and make sure everyone is in the proper courses. Moving forward, I want to acknowledge that my goal as well as the new administration is to continue to build trust and learn more about the community. We have a great staff and I am learning about amazing parents who support our school, and together I am hopeful about the partnership to make PCHS the place to be. The next few weeks are critical as we prepare to bring back all students on February 1st. Next week, the goal is to start having conversations with students about the building protocols and safety precautions as we prepare for all kids. I appreciate all the support and feedback as we continue the school year.
Dr. Jones, Extremely Proud Principal
Attendance
REMINDER: Anytime a student is not present at school the absence counts against their attendance. ONLY absences due to PC District aware COVID situations do not count against attendance. A parent/guardian is expected to call the school when students are absent to verify the absence. This call is a safety precaution, so we know you know where your student is.
A+ SCHOLARSHIP ATTENDANCE: Even during this time, the A+ Scholarship still requires a 95% attendance over all four years. In order to keep this average by the senior year, it is important students do not miss more than 8 days a school year, 32 total days over all 4 years.
Semester Graduates - January 2021

Winter Weather Information
Cancellation/Notification
In the event of school cancellation, PCR-3 will get that information out as early as possible through automated phone calls and text messages, the District website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the District Hotline (816-858-2752), and local media. If snow, ice, or extreme cold make conditions unsafe, we will cancel school and now have options to 1) make those days up per our academic calendar, or 2) implement our Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days or AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction). Click here for details on our Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days.
Have You Opted in to Receive Texts?
The District uses text messaging and automated phone calls to notify parents and staff of upcoming events and days off, school closings due to weather, and during emergency situations.
If you haven't yet opted in to receive texts and wish to do so, please text the word "YES" to 67587 (standard text messaging fees apply).
