Fall Creek Intermediate - January 20th, 2019
iLearn Skylert - 1/15/19
Good afternoon,
On Wednesday, January 23rd, students in grades 3-8 and 10 around the state will participate in a statewide readiness test to ensure our infrastructure, combined with the American Institute for Research (AIR), is capable of handling the volume of students participating in the ILEARN test later this spring. ILEARN is the replacement test for ISTEP. In order to prep your child’s iPad for this assessment we need you to download the “AIRSecureTest” app. The app can be found here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/airsecuretest/id607002517?mt=8. We ask that the app be installed by this Friday, January 18th.
If you have a rental iPad, we will automatically push this app to your child’s iPad.
Should you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out to your child’s school and ask to be connected to the Building Technician.
Thank you,
Hamilton Southeastern Schools

Youth Mentoring Initiative
YMI - Youth Mentoring Initiative has been serving the Fishers community, in partnership with HSE schools, since 2008. YMI partners with our schools to come alongside counselors, teachers, and parents by providing another caring adult to support and encourage the success of each student. YMI is a FREE program, as we are a non-profit organization and exist due to donations, grants, and the support of our community.
Our Mentors are adult volunteers that come to mentor once a week, for one hour, during the school day. Mentors meet one-on-one with students and provide them with a caring and consistent presence in their lives; become a reliable friend; a role model; and simply someone they can count on.
Do you have or know a student that could benefit from having a Mentor? Follow these steps to get them enrolled in the program:

***IMPORTANT FCI PROCEDURES***
Attendance Procedures
Please follow the below process when your child has will be absent, has a transportation change or an early dismissal. Following this process ensures that the office and teachers are informed of the change(s).
Transportation Change / Early Dismissal Notification Process
Follow one of the below steps to notify the school of your child’s change.
Send a note with your child in the morning
Send an email to the office staff and your child’s teacher
- It’s important to include all of the following contacts should you send an email
- Michele Pitts – mpitts@hse.k12.in.us
- Ebony Roberts - eroberts@hse.k12.in.us
- Julie Green – jgreen@hse.k12.in.us
- Susan Peterson – sdpeterson@k12.in.us
- Student’s teacher
Last minute changes during the school day:
- Call the office at 317-915-4220
After school hours:
Call the attendance line at 317-915-4228. Please include the following in your note and/or message:
- child's full name
- homeroom teacher
- time of early dismissal
- nature of dismissal (e.g., doctor appointment, physical therapy, etc.)
- reason for the absence (be specific)
- your full name
- contact telephone # in the event of questions
If an absence is due to a doctor's appointment, remember to send the doctor's excuse note to school for attendance purposes. Medical absences are recorded differently according to our state/district attendance policies.
Do not communicate absence/early dismissal/transportation changes solely to the teacher. This information must go through the office. While you may also notify the teacher, if the teacher is not present at school and information is sent to him/her, the office will not be knowledgeable of the information.
IMPORTANT SAFETY ITEM REMINDERS
- Buzzer protocol - When you ring the buzzer for entry, remember that the office staff will ask you your name, intent, child's name/homeroom to ensure those that enter FCI should enter.
- Photo ID - Whether picking up or dropping off, please have photo ID such as your driver's license ready for identification purposes.
- Door 1 entry - All visitors must enter via door 1 regardless of time of day. Please do not come in the cafeteria door with students before school.
- Bus lot - Do not enter the bus lot prior to bus arrival or while buses are in the lot.
- Drop-off - Please make all attempts possible to have your child exit your vehicle on the side of the curb. Exit the opposite side and walking in between cars is not safe.
Activity dismissal
For school-wide events such as the Hang Out, Falcon Fest, all-school stay-after basketball games, the following pick-up procedures assist in safer, quicker dismissal:
- 5th grade parents to travel north on Olio Road into the front parking lot then south on Olio Road out of the parking lot. Pick-up is in FRONT of the building for 5th grade.
- 6th grade parents to travel south on Olio Road into the bus parking lot then north on Olio Road out of the parking lot. Pick-up is in the bus lot for 6th grade. This is north of the school on the side face HSE High School.
ABOVE ALL, we know your schedules are very busy as well. However, we ask that you NOT park in the parking lot and ask your child to walk across the lot. This is not safe as there are many vehicles in the lot. Please assist us in keep all of our children safe and remain in the pick up line. We will take all possible efforts to move the line quickly and safely. Thank you in advance!! :)
Safe Visitor Badges
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their Safe Visitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (available for iPhones and in Google Play for all other phones) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names can lead to the wrong person being signed in.
Upon leaving, please give your printed badge to the office staff for quick check-out.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Vicki Foutty at 317-594-4100.
Text-A-Tip
Text-A-Tip is a program that allows students, parents or others to anonymously send a text or email message to our school resource officers and school administrators about concerns they may have for their own safety or the safety of others. Text-A-Tip will be actively monitored during the school day. It should not be used for emergencies—Call 911 if you need immediate help. For more information on how to submit a tip please use the link below.
