Author Visit
In preparation for author Shelley Pearsall's visit in February, the Greene School cafeteria will host a FUN event:
On Friday January 10, Elvis will be IN THE BUILDING. A professional Elvis Presley impersonator (from Pearsall's book All Shook Up) will be performing live on the cafeteria stage during the
students' lunch times. We'd love to have the parents and staff stop by or eat lunch in the cafeteria. We know you will enjoy the show! Maybe even get your picture taken with Elvis!
***Also, there will be prizes awarded for the best costume. Will you be an Elvis look-alike, or will you dress like you live in the 1950's rock-and-roll era? If so, you could win a prize!
There will be gift cards awarded to 3 lucky students who have read the Pearsall book being celebrated.
News from the Junior High
Dear Rising 7th Grade Parents/Guardians:
The Junior High has begun the process of transitioning your son/daughter as a seventh grader! We are confident that the outstanding academic foundation Greene has established will carry on here at the Junior High. In addition, the Junior High has a dynamic after school life with many athletic opportunities and clubs. We look forward to your family joining our Junior High community. While the transition process is in the early planning stages, we are very excited to think about your son/daughter joining us in August! Please put the following dates on your calendar:
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at 10:45am: The Junior High administrative and counseling team will attend the Greene PTO meeting to discuss the transition process.
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 at 7:00pm: Rising 7th grader orientation and academic fair at the Junior High.
Thursday, March 5 2020: Rising 7th grade student tours at the Junior High.
There are many more details that I will communicate to parents and students over the next few months. Please watch our spot on the S'more for the most up-to-date information regarding the sixth to seventh grade transition.
Sincerely,
Andy King
7th Grade Assistant Principal

Carnival Basket Raffle Donations - Shop on Amazon!
The Greene Carnival Team has started collecting items for our famous Basket Raffle. The kids LOVE using their carnival tickets for a chance to win a basket. Each year, we ask parents to donate items so that our baskets will be a.ma.zing!
This year, our #1 techie parent volunteer Leigh Grause has made it even easier for you to donate items through Amazon. Click on the link below for your child’s team and purchase items from the list. There will be a shipping option to have the item sent directly to our Carnival Team. There's no need for you to make extra trips to the store or to school in order to purchase and drop off your donations! AND, if you would prefer to let us do your shopping, we also have a link to place an online donation (http://bit.ly/EHGBasketRaffleOnlineDonation)
It couldn’t be any easier than that!
We are so appreciative of the generosity of our Greene School families! Stay tuned for more info related to Greene Fest 2020 coming soon!

Crisis Response Information for Families - Holidays 2019
The holiday season is often viewed as a time of togetherness and happiness. But for some, it can be a very difficult time of year. Should you or a loved one need support over this break from school, community support is available.
Sycamore Community Schools is providing local and national resources to support those experiencing crisis:

As we have shared through our #SpeakUpAVES campaign throughout this year, it is ok to not feel ok. Some people may find themselves feeling especially off amid the holiday season.
While not every difficult situation may rise to the level of a crisis, we all need support at times.
Cincinnati Warmline is a safe, judgment-free way to talk to someone. The crisis prevention measure recently featured on WCPO provides someone on the other end of the line who can provide emotional support. They can also connect you to a peer coach or support group, a mental health agency or general resources that can help with everyday life.
