Principal Message
Greetings, Ride Families!
Mrs. Collins and I like to refer to gratitude during the month of November with our staff. We learned several years ago, that we all felt so much better and happier after practicing some of the more popular tips on being grateful, and giving grace to others. The more we read about it (and shared with our staff), the happier everyone seemed to be feeling. We feel that finding ways to build positive relationships is beneficial for us all. This includes peers, parents, students, kids, community, and family members. I have always heard that if you want to have healthy relationships, start with an attitude of gratitude. And, we have found that the more we practice being grateful, the more relaxed, happy and able to work well with others we are. I wanted to share that with you because it may be something you are interested in reading more about.
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity … it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. Melody Beattie
I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham

Generation Texas Week
Message from Ms. Hodge
Thank you so much for your family's support for the 4th - 2nd grade skating unit. It has been incredibly exciting to see our skaters grow in their confidence and abilities. Thanks to our helpful crew, our students' skate time has been maximized and we are seeing lots of students learn new skills! It looks like some kids will be adding skates to their wish list!

Tips for Parents to Teach Healthy Study Habits
1. Set a schedule: Studying should be part of your student's daily routine, not something he or she tries to cram in the night before a test. Students should parse out their study time over the course of the week, rather than letting due dates dictate their study time. Preparing for tests ahead of time can reduce anxiety, and finishing assignments ahead of schedule can be rewarding for students. Parents and students should write due dates and major deadlines on a calendar or planner to serve as a visual reminder.
2. Eliminate distractions: Cell phones, Facebook, and TV can quickly interrupt a productive study session. Curb your teen's temptation to tune in, text, or update their status by shutting down any unnecessary electronics during scheduled study times.
3. Break it up: Maintaining focus during a two-hour study session may be challenging, so know your teen's limits and divvy up study time accordingly. Being aware of their attention span can help you structure their study time so that it will be successful. Lastly, parents should also set milestones for large projects or important tests such as midterms.

Lunch Sign-Up
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are asking all parents with small children to eat outside in the gazebo area.
