Roadblocks anyone?
Franklin has a new program that students can choose to participate in: it is called InRoads. InRoads is a program that lets kids explore career paths before they get to college so that they don’t spend so much money deciding what they want to do. There are three paths: BioMedical, World Marketing, and Engineering. Most of our group is in the Biomed Strand; but that doesn’t matter as much as the fact that the InRoads Program has asked us to complete a year long project to better the community. We decided that we were going to send care packages to deployed military troops. Most groups are sitting and twiddling their thumbs, but our group, well we actually got pretty excited.
Our original plan was to stand outside of target and ask people to buy items for us, but we came across two road blocks. 1) How are we going to get postage? Sending packages to a foreign war ridden country can't be cheap. 2) The target executives are not willing to give high school girls the time of day until they have some openings in June. Unfortunately, this didn’t work for us.
We decided to fundraise at school for postage, solving problem number one, but were at a loss for problem two, but if all goes well with Southbrook Church then we should have the soldiers feeling at home in no time.
