Chromebooks
8th grade students received their Chromebooks last week. 6th and 7th graders will receive theirs this week. For those who do not have internet at home, we will work on getting out the hotspots this week.
The Chomebook needs to come fully charged to Kennedy each day. The charger needs to stay at home. I encourage families to keep the charger in the adult’s room so that you know where the Chromebook is at night so that your student isn’t on the Chromebook playing games. While students are using the Chromebook for homework, you should try to monitor their activity and frequently check the history on the internet of the sites your student has been visiting.

PE Clothes
A reminder that students need to be suiting up for PE everyday and then changing back into their regular clothes after. For those who have PE the first period of the day, they can wear their PE clothes to school, however, what I saw this week is that many students forgot to bring regular clothes to change back into. So perhaps for most students it is better for them to just change at school.
We know that some clothes are still back ordered. Merrily is working on getting that inventory. PE teachers do have the list so that students aren’t penalized for not having their PE uniform.

Clubs
Throughout this year we will offer many different clubs. Some will occur before school, some during lunch, and others after school. Students can start their own club by finding a teacher advisor who will sponsor the club and allow the students to use that classroom. Student Council can provide $100 in seed money for supplies. Here are the clubs we know about so far:
Dungeons & Dragons Club: Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 pm, Room 528 (Started Last Week)
Photography Club: Starting soon. Details will be shared in next weekend’s Cougar Connect.
Yoga Club: Starting soon. Details will be shared in next weekend’s Cougar Connect.Zero Period

Attendance/Appointment Procedures
If your student needs to leave during the day for an appointment, you need to come into the office and sign your student out. If your student returns during the day, you need to come sign your student back in. Your student needs to get a pass from an office staff member at that time to enter class.
Announcements From The Community
Sequoia High School Shadow Program
Dear Friends in the Sequoia HS Community,
Another school year has arrived, and for us at Sequoia, that means another chance to welcome visiting 8th graders for a first look at the school. Our Shadow Program provides the unique opportunity to accompany a current Sequoia student throughout the school day. In our process, we make every effort to match our shadows and hosts based on curricular and extracurricular interests submitted during registration. In addition to seeing a host's regularly scheduled academic classes, we will kick things off with a general introductory information session (8:00-8:30) and will end the day with a summative question/answer session over a complimentary lunch in our Student Activities Center, ending the day at noon. Parents are also welcome to attend both the introduction session as well as an optional informational session from 8:30-9:15.
Shadow dates can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the program has become very popular and early dates can fill up fast. the program will open for electronic registration on Wednesday, September 11 on the SHADOWS PAGE (Home Page > Parents and Community > 8th Grade Shadowing Program) of the Sequoia HS website. Please feel free to contact shadow coordinator Corey Uhalde (cuhalde@seq.org) with any questions or comments.
