MAP Testing

The students and staff at Green Tree Elementary are diligently preparing for the upcoming MAP Assessment. The assessment will be online this year. The tests inform families of how well their children are able to apply their knowledge, how well they are meeting educational standards, and how they compare to other students in their grade. In general, the tests can identify student’s strengths and weaknesses to indicate where extra support or enrichment is needed.

Please make every effort to ensure your child is in attendance on MAP testing days.

Third, fourth and fifth grade students will take the test on the following dates:

Fifth Grade:

ELA– April 11 and 12

MATH– May 2

SCIENCE– May 11 and 16

Fourth Grade:

ELA – April 18, 19 and 20

Math – May 3, 4 and 8

Third Grade:

ELA – April 25, 26 and 27

Math - May 9 and 10

Angela Politte

From morning duty, to lunch support, to late afternoons waiting at parent pick- up, Julie is an exemplary support staff member. Julie enthusiastically greets students, staff, and parents with a warm smile and kind words of welcome (and on cold days with a cute Yoda hat). She is a shining star with her flexibility, willingness to help others, and great sense of humor. She is a dependable team member, an avid learner and a hard worker all while maintaining a calm and caring demeanor. When working with students, her kind heart shines through. She couldn't possibly walk down the hallway without hearing greetings from all the students whom she has advocated for, chatted with, or helped both in and out of the classroom.

Julie is a friend to all with words of encouragement and a positive attitude. It shows through everyday that she loves her job; she inspires others to greatness and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of support staff of the year.

Congratulations Julie! GTE is very lucky you chose education as your 2nd career!

Muffins with Mom

This event was a great time to share a muffin and converse with students, families and friends. Thanks to all who attended!

Volunteer Tea

Green Tree Elementary School celebrated and honored our volunteers at a tea in the library on March 29th. The staff hosted the event with 32 guests from PTO plus classroom and community volunteers.

One of our tutoring volunteers, Rosemary Dambach explained, "It's so nice to get together with other volunteers. We really don't expect to be thanked, but it was a beautiful event with good food made by the staff!"

Ms. Angela Politte and Mrs. Jennifer Bagin attended the Volunteer Tea to thank all of the volunteers. Both administrators thanked the attendees on behalf of the GTE Staff. Ms. Politte also recognized our PTO Board: Co Presidents: Mary Wright & Julie Redd, Wendy Kimmel, Cynthia Madden, Andrea Crislip, Natalie Grosso Lutfiyya, Kari Campbell, Wendy Helton, Anna Kuhns, Kim Porter, and Merideth Carney.

At Green Tree, volunteers plan and carry out PTO events, raise funds for technology, books & supplies, read and work with students, and simply make Green Tree a better school with their donation of time and energy. THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR FABULOUS VOLUNTEERS!
