Special Edition - Remote Learning

As We Transition to Remote Learning...

Hello Franklin Families,

Just an update to our communications concerning remote learning. As you all know, it was necessary to revert to remote learning, currently scheduled for Tuesday, January 18 through Monday, January 24, 2022. It is our hope that with this proactive approach, we can avoid emergency rolling closures due to staff shortages like we had on Friday, January 7.

At this writing, the first day of class, in person, will be January 25th.

In addition to pivoting to remote learning, there are some other important changes you need to be aware of, and they are listed below. Thank you again for your ongoing patience and flexibility with this unique school year.

Students will attend all six classes daily. Start time is 8:00 for all secondary schools. See the schedule below.

  • Monday, January 17 - NO SCHOOL for all students in celebration of MLK, Jr.’s Birthday.

  • Monday, January 24, 2022 was a holiday but is now a REMOTE learning day (This change is because of make-up snow days)

  • Tuesday, January 25 is the first day of in-person learning

  • January 18-24, school buildings are closed to students

  • Second Quarter ends January 28

  • Third Quarter starts January 31

Grab-and-go meals will be available at eleven school locations on January 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Meals should be ordered online between now and no later than 9 pm on January 18 and a five-day meal pack (5 breakfast and 5 lunches) will be provided for pick-up on January 19. (Franklin is a meal site)

  • Middle school athletic games, practices, and MS extracurricular activities are canceled on remote learning days.

  • High school athletics and extracurricular activities will continue but spectators are not permitted at home contests on remote learning days (games will be streamed); please check with your coach/activity supervisor for specific details.

  • Self-Contained Special Education classrooms will remain in-person, including transport, and on their normal schedule at all schools

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep all safe. We will continue to update our newsletters as frequently as needed, so keep reading!

Thank you,
