Clinic News

The clinic clothing bank is extremely low. If you are cleaning out closets we could really use women’s small shorts or yoga type pants/sweat pants, girls large and ex-large shorts or sweatpants (elastic waist is best), boys medium, large, ex large or men’s small shorts or sweat pants (again elastic waist.) Thank you!

From Mrs. Smith

With spring approaching, we naturally think of new beginnings. As educators, springtime signifies the beginning of our planning for the next school year. Mrs. Swaim and I are busy organizing our wonderfully talented educators at Mashburn for the 2015-2016 school year. As parents, this time of year prompts us to think of our children moving to a new grade level and class placement. I can assure you that a great deal of thought and effort will go into the process of forming new classes for next year. Each student will be placed into an instructional group with input from a variety of sources.

While the process we use is comprehensive, we also value your input regarding your child’s needs. Specific individual teacher requests will not be accepted. Sibling requests may be made but are not guaranteed. If you have information you would like to share, please be sure to make your requests based on educational factors unique to your child’s needs and these will certainly be considered as we make our final decisions.

This year we are going high-tech with a survey system. Please complete the following link.

Thank you for teaming with us to create an amazing 2015-16!

2015-16 PTA Committees

Even though this school year still has a few weeks left, PTA is hard at work planning for next year. Here's a list of committees that need co-coordinators (okay, chairs, but coordinator doesn't sound as scary), committee members, or just some general help here and there.
Birthday Marquee*
Room Parents*
Watch Dog DADS
Blue Bear Committee
Fundraising (year long or specific events)*
Honoring Our Heroes
5th Grade Committee*
Talent Show

*These are great opportunities for WOHMs [Work Outside the Home Moms - or dads].

We may have missed one or two committees by accident, so if there's something you want to help out with, just let us know. To get involved, or ask questions, send an email to: You can also check out our Facebook page - MashburnElementaryPTA, [you don't have to be a Facebook member to see this page] where we have a good discussion going about these committees.

Thanks for your support of the PTA. Remember our motto: Every child, one voice!

Mentor Training

Make a difference in the life of a child by mentoring. Research shows that mentoring reduces absenteeism while increasing social, emotional, and overall well-being, resulting in youth who are productive members of society. The next training date for mentors is June 1 from 6-8pm at the Forsyth County Board of Education. No registration is required! For more information you can visit or contact Lindsey Simpson, 770-887-2461 ext. 202347 or Susie Brookshire, 770-887-2461 ext. 202339. See below for additional training dates.

Meal Charges

Our automated system will not allow further negative meal charges to student accounts after May 1, 2015. Students without funds will be offered a courtesy meal of a Cheese Sandwich and milk. To ensure your child can continue to enjoy school meals or to clear your students’ account of any negative balances, please send a payment (cash or check) to the school or visit, to make a payment on line, you will need your child’s student I.D. number. This website is a convenient way to make payments and monitor your child’s account balance. Please check account balances to determine the funds needed for meals for the remainder of this school year (breakfast is 1.25 and lunch is 2.25). Money on customer accounts will carry forward to next school year. Remember to note your child’s Student ID on your check. or to include it with cash in an envelope. We accept Free and Reduced Applications each school day.
