School Day - online payments and permission forms

As announced last school year, our school launched a new secure online portal that allow families to complete payments and permission forms online. Parents and guardians will be invited via email to view their student’s school related events such as field trips, sporting events or activities such as yearbook purchases. Parent/Guardians will then be asked to complete the required permissions (if applicable) and complete payment via credit card or electronic funds transfer from their bank account.

Instructions on how to register for this new system have been sent home with students not yet registered. If you registered last school, you do not need to re-register.

School Messenger - Absence Reporting

School Messenger App
1. Use your mobile device to download and install the free SchoolMessenger blue app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, the SchoolMessenger website portal, or from within the LDSB mobile app.
2. The first time you use the app, you must select Sign Up to create your account. Please ensure you use the same email address your student’s school has on file. If you do not use that same email address, you will not be able to create an account, or may not be able to see the "Attendance" option. You may have already created an account when we introduced the Communicate broadcast system.
3. Select Attendance, then select Report an Absence and follow the prompts.

SchoolMessenger SafeArrival Website Portal

Toll-free telephone
1. Call 1-855-257-9349 toll-free to report an absence using the automated phone system.
2. Follow the prompts.

These options are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time using any one of these methods.

Please do not call the school directly to report your student's absence.

If your child is sick or has an appointment, please put their absence into the School Messenger app. If they are going to be late in the morning, click on full day absence. When they arrive at school, Cheryl enters them into the system and their absence changes to late.

Morning Drop Off 8:50-9:05

Our morning drop offs are going really well! Thank you for masking your child before they enter the bus or the yard. It makes our line ups much more manageable in the mornings.

Please ensure you do not drop your child off earlier than 8:50. We do not have Yard Supervisors until 8:50 and our Before Care Program is using the yard before school. They must have a clear yard to meet their safety regulations.

Thank you!

Possible Bus Cancellations

We are being told to prepare for school bus cancellations.

Tri-Board Student Transportation has indicated there will likely be more bus delays and cancellations this year due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Transportation to and from school is not guaranteed. Families should have a backup plan to transport their student(s) to school, and to arrange child care where required, if their bus is cancelled for any reason and they cannot transport their student to school.

Families should ensure they are signed up to receive direct notifications, either by email, or Tri-Board’s app. Delays and cancellations are also posted to Tri-Board’s Twitter account.

Orange Shirt Day Assembly

We had our first Virtual Assembly today! It took us a while to get every class linked in but once we did, it worked well!

Below, you will find some information about Orange Shirt Day and some examples of work completed after our assembly. The conversations we had today were deep. Even our Grade 1 students could relate to going away from home for 300 days!
