Note from the Principal

Hello NES Families,

We are looking forward to a great week. Here's a couple reminders:

Report cards will be coming home with students on Tuesday in their NV home folders. Please sign and return the envelope to your child's teacher so we can confirm you received it. Feel free to reach out to your child's teacher if you would like to set up a spring conference or simply discuss their learning further via phone or zoom. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child's growth. We appreciate you!

Our Music Performance for 4th and 5th grade students & families is Wednesday at 2:00pm in the gym.

  • Doors will open at 1:45pm
  • If you would like to take your student and/or siblings home afterwards, please send a pink note or call the office.
  • We'll have a rehearsal with the whole school on Tuesday so all students get to see their peers perform.

Thank you for helping to spread the word about Kinder Registration for next year. We are also enrolling for EEK (Early Entry Kinder) for next year as well. Contact us if you have any questions.

Here's to a great week ahead,

Katie Brown

Spring Family Festival: March 24th

Mark your calendars for our next family event! On Friday, March 24th from 5:30-7:30pm, Families for Nooksack PTO will host a Spring Family Festival in the NES gym. There will be a variety of fun activities, concessions, and family fun. Entrance fee for kids will be $5.00. We look forward to seeing you!

Elementary Music Performances for the 2022-2023 School Year

Here is the concert schedule for Nooksack Elementary:

  • February 10th - 2nd & 3rd grade performance: 2:00-2:30pm- Done! Yay!

  • March 15th - 4th and 5th grade performance: 2:00-2:30pm

  • May 24th - Kinder & 1st grade performance: 2:00-2:30pm

We have decided our concerts this year will be from 2:00-2:30 PM. This allows parents time to take their kids home after the performance and to clear out our parking lot in time for normal bus pick-up. At the concerts, only the students performing will be attending. We don't have enough space for our whole school AND families, but the rest of the school will have a chance to see the show during the dress rehearsals.

Will your child be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2024 and is not currently in a preschool program?

The Nooksack Valley School District is offering a full year of Early Entry Kindergarten that will provide a free, full-day early entrance kindergarten opportunity for children who are scheduled to enter a kindergarten class in the fall of 2024.

What: A free, full-day, full year, of Early Entry kindergarten

When: Applications will be screened in June. Students may qualify based on need. After the screening has taken place, you will receive a letter in the mail if your child has qualified or not. Early Entry Kindergarten program will follow the regular district calendar and will be full year.

Where: Located at our elementary schools

Why: This program will focus on social and basic academic skills to help qualifying students get a jumpstart toward success in school.

The Nooksack Valley School District is doing all we can to support all students at every level of education. One goal is to enhance and invest in early childhood learning opportunities. We believe offering Early Entry Kindergarten is a positive and critical step in helping your child transition into our schools and start their journey as a lifelong learner.
