Message from Chris
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
After a long year full of challenges we are finally at the summer break.
I want to thank our whole parent community for all their support across the year. It has been difficult for children, parents and staff alike to manage the various challenges that have emerged. The anxiety from the civil unrest at the start of the year, followed by that caused by the COVID-19 related site closures has placed pressure on families in a way not previously seen in our community. I am very pleased that we were able to face these challenges together, and the children, upon their return to school have had a very positive experience over the last four and a half weeks of school.
Year 6 Graduation
We say a fond farewell to our Year 6 students today. They are a fabulous group who have pulled together brilliantly over the past years and particularly over the past weeks showing great resilience and perseverance in preparing for the Exhibition. We know they are extremely well prepared for the next phase of their education and we wish them all the very best for the future.
I would like to thank Year 6 parents who are leaving the community for their incredible support for the school over many years and I wish you well for the future.
Staff and Student Leavers
It is that time of year when we say farewell to a number of other leavers. I wrote to you a couple of weeks ago about each of our staff leavers, but I would like to further wish Mr Buckley, Ms Bott, Ms Mee, Ms Or and Ms Chainrai the very best for the future.
I would like to also send those families in other year groups who are leaving the school community our best wishes. All those who leave Glenealy will remain part of the Glenealy Community and are welcome to visit in the future.
We are pleased to distribute the 2019-20 yearbooks to children today, for the first time, free of charge. This has been an exceptional year and we are very happy with this fabulous book which celebrates the children’s experience throughout the year.
Unfortunately the printers only returned the books late on Tuesday of this week. We have distributed Years 1,3,5 and 6 today, along with the children’s siblings in other years. If you are in Years 2 or 4 and haven’t had your copy, they will be available for collection later this week on Friday 26th June from the school Office, or alternatively upon your return on August 12th.
August Return and Calendar
As a reminder the first day of next school year for students is on Wednesday 12th August. The School Calendar can be found here.
We are planning for children to return full time on site in August, however I will be in contact with you over the summer when I have an update around our planned return. A full return to school site is dependent upon EDB and CHP guidelines allowing for this. ESF will work hard to ensure we can return to site as soon as possible.
Thank you to parents for completing the survey regarding our blended and online learning. We received valuable feedback from 221 parents with more than 100 comments. As a school we engage in a process of continual review and development and will take on board the outcomes of the survey. The results of the survey were overwhelmingly positive and I would like to thank you all for taking the time to provide feedback.
Finally, I would like to wish every one of our families all the very best for the summer holiday, and we look forward to a fresh start in August.
