"Bee" in the Know
Week of April 16, 2023
Month of the Military Child
April is the month of the Military Child. We encourage you to wear purple throughout the month of April in support of our Military Students here at OPHS. Wearing purple shows support and signifies the unique sacrifices military children make alongside their families both at home and abroad. The dandelion is the official flower of the military child because it can take root and flourish practically anywhere the wind blows them. Military children are much like the dandelion as they are uprooted and replanted all across the world. The Military OnseSource reported that this year’s theme for the Month of the Military Child is “Taking Care of our Military Children.”
Please join the OPHS and the counseling department in thanking all of our Military Children and their families for their dedication to the United States Military and our communities. Purple Up Day is observed every year on April 15th. The holiday was selected during the Month of the Military Child. It is an opportunity to honor military children from all branches of the military. Military children across the country play a significant role in their schools, youth organizations, and communities. OPHS will be Honoring our Military Children on April 19, 2023, by wearing Purple as April 15th is a Sunday this year. If you post or take pictures for Purple Up Day or any activities honoring our Military Children remember to use the hashtags #MOMC and #MonthoftheMilitaryChild and #PurpleUp.
